But there is more to it than the legal case of "Fleming vs Trebek".  Jeopardy was on at a different time when Mr. Fleming ran the show.  So the audience population was different - even more so from that difference than from the different generations.

JCA - were you playing hooky from school on those days ?

I grew up with Wheel and Jeopardy just about every night in my parents/grandparents household.  I imagine the story is similar for a lot of people.  That's not to say the shows don't stand on their own, but I would wager that kind of foundation probably lends itself to a deeper connection.  Alex Trebek felt like part of the family.  I don't have any particularly strong feelings about Ken Jennings the person one way or another, but to me his connection to Alex and the the show's history puts him head and shoulders above anyone else they could possibly consider for the job.

All that stuff aside, trivia in general is pretty popular across a broad range of demos, and inertia is a hell of a thing.  Nobody really likes change :P

When the kids don't have activities, we still watch the news then jeopardy as a family after dinner (and It's academic on the weekend). I miss Trebek, but I think most of the fill ins would grow on me over time- there are definitely a few who would make us find something else though

These days, I expect most people would know her as the girl from 'The Big Bang Theory.'

For Jeopardy’s target demo, I bet it’s Blossom.

Mayim Bialik?  I'm sure most of the hosts are very smart, but she definitely is. It isn't an act.

I don't see her working well. Her humor is based around being awkward and works really well with a funny cast. I'm not sure it will work with even more awkward contestants

the host isn't supposed to be the focus of the show, that's what made Trebek so great. The game and the contestants are the focus, jeopardy isn't family feud.

I saw ratings have been in decline since Jennings wrapped up his run, hopefully the days of guest hosts are coming to an end.

If LeVar Burton was the host, is there anyone who would have a problem with it? He's universally beloved and he is great for the role.

Aaron Rodgers wasn’t bad on  Jeopardy. A bit dry. But this was hilarious.

So I am listening to whayever Sirius channel they are piping into CCSP now and "Feel So Good " is playing. Not sure if you remember King of the Hill and the Boggle tournament, when Peggy is staying at the hotel, and they have Chuck Mangione doing a PSA on how fire safety can make you feel so good.

Chuck Mangione was a recurring character on King of the Hill

Dead link / not found.

Rodgers was a lower energy than I expected.  Not "bad" per se - his delivery was fine and I thought he handled himself fine, he just didn't really seem to have the spirited off-the-cuff wit that Ken Jennings or Dr Oz had.  Regardless of whatever else you think of those two, they had pep in their step and were good at ad-libbing.

It's Rodgers' first night though, maybe he'll improve.

does Rodgers really want the job?  I'm guessing Ken Jennings and Dr Oz really want it and the Rodgers is doing this for fun.
