If you have cable TV, The Longest Day (1962) started at 8:00 pm ET on TCM (Turner Classic Movies). It may be available On Demand tomorrow.

Saving Private Ryan (1998) started on the AMC channel at 7:00 PM and repeats at 11:00 PM.

Overlord (1975) is on TCM at 11:15 PM, which follows a young British soldier from his induction to D-Day.

I was surfin' last night and came across an old (original series) Star Trek episode.     The bad guy was played by Major Winchester (David Stiers) of MASH.

I didn't know he was in that. I remember him having a guest role (a pretty memorable one) on a next generation episode. That's cool he was in both.

I've been googlin' on and off since last night lookin' for the episode (just to be sure my eyes didn't deceive me).     He played the part of a guy who conned somebody on another planet and had to escape.     He ended up on a planet of androids who made him king.     He wanted to get away so he lured the Enterprise in to rescue him.     He was puttin' Kirk, Spock and Bones in captivity when I turned back to the delayed game.   I guess he wanted them (other humans) to hang with the androids as he moved on.

EDIT:    Keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeriste it was Roger C. Carmel as the Mudd character.

I went there for Stiers and didn't find it (original Star Trek).    That's when it dawned on me I had messed up.

CNN is carrying a rerun of the Apollo 11 story tonight at 9 that they ran last Sunday.    It's worth the watch.

Stretching the definition of TV a little, maybe, but for those of you that are cord cutting and relying on interesting streaming, the YouTube channels Acorn to Arabella (where two guys in the middle of Massachusetts build a 36' wooden boat, starting with cutting down and milling the timber) and Sampson Boat Co. Talley Ho (rebuilding a classic 50' sailing yacht from the turn of the last century) are fascinating. From the tools to the techniques to the sheer ballsy-ness of such undertakings.

I've been watching a lot more of this kind of stuff and way, way less regular TV lately.

Ask Skippy. She or her co-stars should be able to tell you.

Maybe. They just finished the annual champions tourney and Holzhauer won with ease

I was rooting for him all the way but I would not call his performance "with ease".  He sailed through the first night but he was clearly pressing and dare I say nervous on night 2.  It also wasn't a runaway.

I don't care who wins as long as Rutter loses.

Probably already been filmed.

I suspect this is Alex's retirement tourney :(

I have it on good authority that the episodes are filmed 6-8 weeks in advance and they film 5 episodes in a day.

Not sure if you were being cheeky but generally speaking that's not a big secret
