In 900+ pages of text where nothing happens but her arguing with her advisers, awful is right on target.

it seems like her plot got to a point faster than it should have, so you just have stalling until the other lines catch up

with the way the show is going, they basically cut out half the crap from ADWD. thank god. seemed like the martell storyline was a waste of time, and daenerys like you said was just arguing for an entire book.

TIL the actress who played Shae (Tyrion's uh, companion) was a pictures star before GoT.

I should have posted on this one earlier, but PBS had a special two nights ago (so On Demand available probably) regarding the end of the Vietnam War.

My Dad was the pilot of the AC-130H flying aerial cover over the embassy when the Ambassador pulled out via chopper.  He flew the last official combat sortie of the war.

Cool.  He must have some great stories.

He doesn't talk much about his third tour there (the one that closed out the war) as it was with Special Ops, but his 2nd tour he was flying normal C-130s on milk runs to the troops during the Linebacker push.  By milk runs, I mean literally milk, not an easy flight like you'd usually think.  Fresh food and drink was getting delivered to the guys on the ground using little dirt strips that they cleaned out of the jungle.

One strip he landed on was about 10 feet longer than was needed for the 130 to get airborne.  He landed, then had to back the plane up to the other end of the runway - while under machine gun and rocket fire - to unload the food and take off.  There just wasn't room to turn the plane around and if you know anything a C-130, you'll know just how small that strip was. They damn near spin in place when they turn.

(and that's my last post on this thread that isn't TV related - sorry to get it OT)

My wife was born and bred in MI. It's pretty much a given anything Michigan related will get airtime in our house. As far as cop dramadeis go, it's not too bad.

It certainly takes odd twists.
