I broke out into cheers whenever I saw Span take an outside pitch tonight to left. He did that twice, and in his first at bat he worked it for 7 pitches before the stirke out. That was improvement. Then he had a horrible at bat, first pitch ground out IIRC. Keeping Span doing what he does best and not over anxious is a key for this offense.
Even tonight, i could live with getting nothing out of Werth because i thought his approach was his normal one. All i want from these guys is to play the way they normally do. That'll get the job done. Desi can first pitch swing because that is his game. I just don't want Adam becoming a swing-happy soft PA, Span to swing at OoZ pitches, and Ramos just flailing.
