my biggest issue with Roark out of the pen is that he doesn't have dominant stuff. Gio could give you 2 innings of dominant middle relief if a starter wobbles, Roark I'm not so sure can come up with the chips down or with inherited runners and save the day - not a knock on Tanner but just a thought

The only possible way I see any benefit to having Soriano on the roster is  if Storen completely melts down or gets hurt, and hope that a rest has returned Soriano to early season form.  Otherwise I can't see a role for him.

I don't agree.  He is very effective.  Effective trumps dominance.  He will get the job done.

It'd actually be good if the Cards and Bucs tie after Sunday, which means they'd play at StL Monday to decide the NL Central winner.  It's likely mess with their rotation schedule for Game 1.
