Glad to hear it - they deserve to be in the AL

Yeah it weirds me out that they and Houston ended up basically swapping (not at the same time).

Stop it with the 98 wins FP. They are not going to make it to 98.

Encouraging inning for Storen. The train keeps on rolling.

Hope the team nutritionist and team chef can get a handle on this gout problem before it sweeps the locker room.

It speaks volumes about Storen that you guys weren't crapting yourselves for three pages as soon as a guy went on.

Or it speaks volumes about Soriano.

Either way, hooray.

I'm much more concerned with Span than I am with this win though...

Follow the franchise not the city.  Always.

I'm sorry, but Washington won the 1924 World Series, not the Twins.

that's the team i least want to face in the playoffs.

I'm still nervous about the Cardinals. As far as I'm concerned, they're the raison d'être to fight for home field advantage.

Need to clinch homefield throughout NL playoffs and then play the reserves.

The Nationals are 15-6 in September. Dominant.

Yep, and it's irrelevant to this franchise.

We'll need a lot of help if we're gonna back into that...

Meh. All the other teams are nervous about facing the Nationals.

No, it's not. This franchise flies a flag to commemorate that win.

Honest question: Are Dawson, Raines, and Carter's retired numbers on display as well?

Who's gonna take Span's spot while he's on the DL?

I hope he isn't, but Face in LF, Harper in CF.

Michael Taylor speaks fluent all-american athlete cliche. It's like a skinnier, shyer version of Jim Thome.

Their names are in the ring of fame and I believe their numbers are alongside. I always say hello to anyone wearing the Expos M, glad to have the fans follow the franchise to DC. But there is no doubt that this franchise and the stadium pay homage to the history of baseball in DC. Four flagpoles on the scoreboard fly three Senators pennants, one blank hopefully to be replaced by a flag dated 2014!
Have you visited? If you come, please let me know and you'll be treated to some Southern Hospitality. Guarenteed!

Isn't Washington in the North?

I believe in continuity of the franchise.

I also hate it when they give a city a team that had one before and they recycle the name (like the Brewers, the Senators, and numerous hockey teams).

I'm cool with teams moving...but the team moved.  That's the team.

I'd love to visit.  I really wood.  The guys aren't hitting Seattle this year, so unless I want to go to San Francisco, I might as well catch a homer.

I'm sorry, but Washington won the 1924 World Series, not the Twins.

There is a high school named for Walter Johnson in Montgomery County. Only connection to Minnesota is that some people nicknamed him "The Big Swede". When someone (Shirley Povich of the Washington -- not Minneapolis -- Post?) asked Johnson why he never corrected the mistaken nickname, Johnson answered "A lot of nice people are Swedish. I wouldn't want to hurt their feelings".

You can go down the roster of the 1924, 1925 (all-time best Washington team, I think) and 1933 teams without finding anyone who played major league ball in Minnesota.

Clark Griffith himself is buried in Ft Lincoln Cemetery.
