Props. Back then the biggest threat in the NFL was, "We'll trade you to Pittsburgh."

Not only that, the Steelers were cheap and didn't pay well.

Papa John must have made a phone call to the dugout.

STILL IS THANK YOU VERY MUCH

My parents hung out with Kinky Friedman a couple weekends ago. He told them about the time he was banished from his fraternity in college because he invited black people to a party.

Didn't mean to imply that he left us.   I was referring to his tunes  ...  "Oh, they ain't makin' Jews like Jesus anymore   ...  "

Well he joined an fraternity, isn't exclusion central to the experience?

Also, Kinky Friedman was Nelson Mandela's 2nd favorite American singer. There's another story there if you're interested.

Is his backup band still the Texas Jewboys?

He should get down on his knees and thank Harper for inspiring him to such a great season.  Maybe coincidence, but Span's excellence started right when Harper suggested he might be the better choice for CF.

When Nelson Mandela was in prison, and they smuggled cassette tapes into prison for entertainment, the two tapes Mandela listened to most were Kinky Friedman's first album, and in particular the song "Ride 'Em Jewboy" (which Mandela loved to sing along to, especially at night when he couldn't sleep), and a greatest hits record by his REAL favorite singer, Dolly Parton

Peter Gabriel has some interesting contributions in a similar genre.

Not only that, the Steelers were cheap and didn't pay well.

But they were better than the Redskins late '50s and early '60s. We had Ralph Guglielmi, since George Preston Marshall though The Goog was better than Rudy Bukich.

Nelson probably liked the cover art as much as anything.

No, Matt, no! Soriano warming up. Not a 9th inning pitcher.
