Please don't tell me you took a picture of your TV just for this.    I thought you were gettin' my snapshot.

You should have to maintain contact with the rubber until your front foot hits, not rewrite throwing mechanics  :hysterical:

So rewrite the rule book?

Clip livid at being pulled in the 8th tonight:

Then get people out, Clip.  Perform.  Don't let 2 men reach base.  The 8th is no more "your" inning than the 9th Soriano's.

Just got home.  Great game!  Disappointing turnout for what was at stake tho.  On the plus side, very few Barves fans and no chop!

they were chopping but it was hard to see because they were so low to the ground.

I just got home; saw the last inning. Storen: 3 Ks.

It's not that we dislike Soriano. We cheered for Storen fro the time he was drafted. Then through 2011 and 2012. We giggled when Carp waited and waited, and finally shouted, "Call the police! We have a killer slider on the loose!"

Storen throws harder, throws pitches that move more, throws a nasty slider. He has "stuff". This might be his time.

He has always been one of my favorite Nats.  It's funny how often people forget that he was injured for most of 2012.  It's amazing how many times I hear Nats fans say, "Yeah he had a great 2012 but just blew the biggest game."  No he didn't.  He had 4 saves in 2012 (not including postseason).  4.  He played less than half the season and a lot of that was just getting right again.  Watching Drew dominate the way he did in 2011 is starting to make this feel like 2012 all over again.  Only this time with a WAY better Drew Storen than 2012 Drew.  I hope we never see Soriano close another game.  And if we have a 1-run lead in Game 5, there is no Nationals reliever I would trust with the ball in his hands more than Drew.

I spent most of the game in a sports bar where every single TV was turned to Monday Night Football. Was checking the game compulsively on my smartphone, which finally died in the elevator of my apartment building during the 9th.

I ran home, turned on my TV, and heard Carp shouting. Feared it was a home run, but it was Storen's second strikeout. Got to watch all of the last at-bat.

When I go to the gym they almost never have the Nats on any of the 15 or so TVs they have.  It's like they can't find MASN.

Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 81st win (guaranteeing a .500 or better finish), each season:

2012 - 2nd September (133rd match of season)
2014 - 8th September (142nd match)
2013 - 17th September (151st match)
2005 - 28th September (159th match) - final win of season
---
2011 - finished 80-81
2007 - finished 73-89
2006 - finished 71-91
2010 - finished 69-93
2008 - finished 59-102
2009 - finished 59-103

Pretty much.    IMHO if there had been 2 out and nobody on, MW wouldn't have been so fast with the hook.

I would have watched the start of the game at my gym, but they don't have MASN2, only MASN. We've got a home game against our biggest division rival and the blO's are on the road against a last place team and WE get relegated to MASN2? I hate this TV deal more and more every day.

Sunday was that way, too.  I get it,  I know the owners and managers are smart enough to know where the money is, so it's no biggee. I just will not be there when the Nats are playing on Sunday, and probably will skip Mondays, too, unless I have a burger craving.

I have no problem going into any sports bar and asking them to put on the Nats game. I think it's their duty as a DC area sports bar. I've yet to have anyone give me pushback. It just makes too much sense.

This. Clipp has always been a whiny nag. He complained when his buddy Storen got sent down in 2013 more than Storen did. He complained in 2012 when Storen got injured and they tried others at closer before him. And he complained when he fell apart as the coser down the stretch in 2012 and Storen got the job back.

Just shut the eff up and take the ball when they tell you.

Some people are just so damn quick to jump on someone. Clippard did follow up with the following:

Quote
All that said, Clippard understood Williams’ decision.

“We’ve got to put our personal stuff aside, especially this late in the season, and just try to get wins. As players, we’ve just got to do our job when we can and if he takes the ball from us, he takes the ball from us.”

He's allowed to have feelings.  He should be hot, but he also understands why it happened.  So no big deal man!  They won.  Game over Man!  Game over!
