I will say that as a teenager my parents made it a point to take me to the OG during their all you can eat promotions. I had 8 dishes one day. On top of a mountain of breadsticks

Cacio e pepe takes about 10 minutes to make and can be prepared by anybody with a pulse.

If you ate 33 pounds of pasta in 50 days all of the gluten wusses would need protective gear to be in the same room as you.

You'd probably take a coffee-aided two hour continuous crap of reconstituted dough

Oh c'mon MDS - it's better than Kraft

Save yourself $20 and buy a box of Kraft dinner.

Terp - if you're ever in OBX, there's a great place called Josephine's at milepost 4.5 in Kitty Hawk

Arlington used to have a couple of "Pines of Italy" (okay there were two of them - a chain?) that were inexpensive and very good.  Sold a house wine by the carafe that was soft and didn't clash with the tomato sauces.  Wish we had that sort of thing around us now.

If you're lucky.  Or you die a horrible death like Edward II with the body's escape routes shut off.  Imagine drowning in your own toxic Olive Garden marinade...*shudder*

Yeah, man, but it's ALL YOU CAN EAT!!!  Roll yer wheelbarrow up to the trough and tuck in!  Quality is no substitute for quantity when you have a 56 inch waistline to maintain.

:?

I haven't been to one in forever but I do remember liking the salad, the dressing was tasty and probably just as bad for you as the other dishes.

You know, not every meal has to be high end. I like my good North End restaurants, and my locals where I can find them, but OG, Macaroni Grill, etc... have a place, too, when they are near where you want to go. I say they are a step up from a food court, and that is OK.  Not a craving, but I've had some OK dishes. Never did the all you can eat pasta, but some of the other dishes were OK.  Of course, I have not been to one since probably 2003 . . .

When one is on a long road trip across the hinterland, it's chains or naught.  I find my usual snark about such establishments goes out the window in a hurry once my stomach starts to assert itself in the middle of Nebraska.

Omaha could recommend somewhere nice for you.

I actually found a decent Mexican place last time I passed through Omaha - but I'm thinking about towns 4 hours west of there such as Duck Whistle Falls, population 130

Best option is probably to just steal some corn from someone's field. Or roadkill.

I use yelp whenever traveling, it's rarely steered me wrong.

Olive Garden is where hillbillies and rednecks go when they think they're going out to a fancy dinner.

Let's just say these places are much better than McDonald's
