I would like to see each team get 2 challenges like tennis for balls and strikes.  If they are right they get to keep using them.

holy crap - imagine how many challenges there would be in this game alone

Better solution is to get rid of the clowns behind the plate once and for all

Harper got punched out on a pitch that was a foot off the plate - same as last night - I'm not holding his feet to the fire in this series

They could do it quick like tennis. Put the pitch track up on the scoreboard when someone challenges

Souza just double in Taylor from first, tying the game 3-3 in the 8th.

on a totally unrelated note

HTF does Waldon get away with his delivery? He's not even on the mound when he throws a pitch. I wonder if fat Joe has ever called him for a balk. Bet he hasn't. Useless POS that he is

Pitches directly down the middle have been called balls before. Almost invariably, the ball was received poorly. Bad framing can hurt, especially on "obvious" strikes.

From watching on tv that pitch looked like a ball, you expect the ump to perfectly see where the ball intersects an invisible rectangle?

lol

No idea. Basically because he's been doing it for so long and he does it every time.

True - but better to just automate the entire process

The old farts aren't ready for that much change.  A couple challenges would help keep them honest and wouldn't be too dramatic a change.

No challenges. Just have an ear piece ding the HP umpire and he can pretend to call it.
