MLBTR confirms, Reynaldo has been called up.

Wonder if Turner or Taylor gets the old HH.

He seems not ready for prime time.

Solis is hurt.

Sure enough. Retroactive to the 7th, so this may be a one-and-done. Wonder who gets cut from the 40? Guessing Nick Lee.

Didn't realize whatever injury he has is that serious... Has been out over a month now

Me neither? What's wrong with him aside from not being Yunel Escobar?  :couch:

I'm excited to see another top prospect getting a shot. It's fun to finally have a system this good. I wasn't expecting Lopez to get a call this season, but very happy for him! We'll see what he can do.

I feel like this is the best way to do it. Do it in the middle of their season when they're no where near their innings limits. Let them get a taste and see what they need to work on. Who knows, maybe Lopez's stuff will be so fantastic, Rizzo will have to call him up to be a reliever.

100%. And push Ross' innings further and further back.

I'd be more inclined to call it "a system this good" if the prospects coming up actually produced.  Right now it's a system that gets scouts excited, but excited scouts don't win MLB games.  Giolito and Turner have plenty of time to get it right, of course, but the guys who the scouts are drooling over aren't always the same guys that produce.  Scouting is still largely the jeans-selling exercise that Billy Beane made fun of 15 years ago.

This is why I'm most excited for Max Schrock.

The more Jose Altuve hits, the more Max Schrock's stock will rise.  Scouts love few things more than a guy who reminds them of another guy.  He's got a really nice swing and the ball just sounds good coming off his bat - everything I saw was off the sweet spot.

Funny, I thought everything you saw was off the A-ball pitcher.

  Yup, that too.  Looked like high-A wouldn't be an issue, and so far so good.

In honor of Reynaldo's debut tomorrow I took a look at how he's doing compared two our other top pitching prospects(Voth and Giolito). Here's a link to blog I wrote on it: https://datadidit.com/2016/07/19/why-reynaldo/ . Reynaldo over the last month has the best ERA of the 3 and is out performing the other two in a bunch of the pitching stats thus far. Looking forward to his debut tomorrow.

GMU - I'm copying your post here and starting a thread in the Clubhouse, then I'm locking this down like we always do for the duration of the call up.  I'll  merge the threads later if he gets sent back down.

Hope he was able to get a decent night's sleep and enjoy a nice post game spread in DC with all the thunder and stuff.

Seriously though, his stuff was great, his command poor. Much to be worked on.

He's got amazing stuff. We all saw it. He's gotta learn to pitch though. Glad to see him getting K numbers in AAA. Was easier in the lower levels for him to just overpower hitters.
