A frequency distribution showing the number of games Nats score 0, 1, 2, 3, .... would be a better way to understand the team's offensive consistency/inconsistency

I think though no matter what you do, you need to get your synapse around a comparison of the Nats to other clubs.  Are we somehow different?  If we are, then let's see the evidence.

Mathguy, you're retired, I think you should get to work on this.

Guilt is a great motivator ...

So where would one get the data for all game scores this year ?

Last year, around the All Star break, is when the season tanked.  Before the ASB, we lost 3 of 4 to the Phillies and 2 of 3 to the Marlins then after the ASB we got swept by the Dodgers and then lost 3 of 4 to Pirates.  That's 3-11.

We never recovered.

....perhaps someone should pass along this bit of knowledge to Matt Williams.

Yes I thought it was right around this time when last season went down the tubes, that's why I love seeing the comparison so far between this year and last, hopefully it looks even better by the end of the month :)

Yep, July killed us last year.  We go .500 in that stretch and we probably make the wild card.

I'm not sure that's actionable intelligence.

DON'T LOSE TO THE ORIOLES AND PHILLIES BEFORE THE ALL STAR BREAK AND THE BREWERS AND ROCKIES AFTER THE ALL STAR BREAK.

...because if you do, we know how the season ends.

...add to that the Braves have 18 straight sub-.500 games coming up.
