mlb.tv will allow you to watch nats games, but if you're in the local area you'll need a vpn or another workaround. I still prefer mlb extra innings broadcasts over mlb.tv as the picture quality is better and delay is not as bad. I think the proposed plan in the blackout restriction free plan which is $10 or $20 bucks more requires a cable/sat login.
mlb.tv and nhl gamecenter are pretty great pq now if you have a device that gets 60fps.  It still falls back to 30fps from time to time, but when it's 60, it is as good or better than cable/sat HD.

I would prefer not to "pirate" the broadcast. It's too bad they don't see the value in offering local games for a fee.

Unfortunately all the money is in cable carriage fees.   They don't want to upset the applecart that pays them $3/month for the millions of subscribers in Nats/Os territory and have to rely on collecting $20 from the tens of thousands of fans willing to pay for the games.

It's never better than the extra innings package. I've tried mlb.tv on several devices and even at 60 fps on my ps4, chromecast, and phone since I get it free for subscribing to extra innings so I do use both services but it's still not as good as the broadcast through a sat dish or cable. The pc website is probably the worst of all of them too. Phone quality can be good depending on where you're at. If I'm at costco or at the mall and the cell service in that area is not at peak strength, watching a game is not worth trying. ps4 and chromecast can be hit or miss at times too.

If you use the app from reddit, the highjacked stream is better than nhl gamecenter. I used to pay for it, but now I don't as the quality is even better on the app someone made. I think the kodi streams get their streams from the same app.

HBO and Showtime were always basically a la carte though, so it was an easy transition.

Cable companies need hbo more than it needs them at this point. The dodgers' spat in LA proves that isn't the case for rsns

True. And I guess this is why the Discovery channels will never be separately streamable. That's the other thing I'd miss a lot (specifically, Velocity).

FantomWorks, Chasing Classic Cars... I love car shows. I'm not really into cars, but I love those car shows.

I liked chasing classic cars, but as it got away from barn finds and towards auctions, I started liking it less

Agreed. The auction companies have to be behind a lot of these shows.

I didn't realize that, but everything is trending to streaming and online services. It's a matter of time before all these channels either end up there or they'll disappear.

How much did Extra Innings cost? When I had DirecTV the cost of EI vs. MLB.TV was significant. I've had MLB.TV the past few years and the quality was as good as anything I watched on cable or OTA with even just a decent internet connection. I live out of market, so perhaps that changes the equation, but the quality is really excellent.

My brother in law says the same thing!

Has anyone jail broke their FireStick and found the Velocity Channel?

Velocity is a Discovery Channel property. I doubt you'll be able to stream it. However, a season of Wheeler Dealers is $19.99 on Amazon. They have season 10 - 15.  You can buy quite a few other Discovery shows, too.

Live Nationals baseball. That's all that's stopping me.

Yeah Extra innings is something like $175 over $99 bucks or whatever mlb.tv costs. EI gives you a mlb.tv login while on the road, but what I like about EI is that they have the pre game and post game shows for most games for home and road teams. Mlb.tv doesn't show anything extra unless someone throws a no hitter or there's something significant happened in the game.

It doesn't and that's a little annoying, but it does have the radio overlay option, which I love. Has EI incorporated that, yet?

It's just the MASN and whoever the other team's network broadcast. Even with the 60 FPS option on mlb.tv, it still seems jittery to my eyes. I use both, but when I'm at home I always watch EI as I like to go on  twitter and read comments and EI is always on time. mlb.tv can have a delay of 30 seconds to 2 minutes at worst so I hate reading about something that happened and mlb.tv is lagging behind. I don't mind paying extra for having both services (mlb.tv is free with EI) because I don't live in the area and like the pre and post game shows as well as it not having a short delay. I also have the nhl center ice package and it's the same thing, but here's the weird thing. The 60 fps stream for nhl seems to be of way better quality. I know both are run by mlbam, but it just seems smoother and clearer.

I have a lot more experience with NHL gc than mlb.tv.  But yeah, I agree, the NHL feed when you are truly getting 60fps is about as good as it gets.  It does drop from 60fps a few times during a game though and I've had some nights where I didn't get 60fps at any point during the game.  I'm guessing that if mlb looks jittery, it is not really coming in at 60fps for whatever reason.  Maybe there is just more traffic for mlb, or maybe new technology came online with the nhl season.    They are not exactly the same systems, I am sure, since they support different devices.

I haven't really had any "jittery" issues with MLB.TV and the cost difference isn't worth getting the feed 90 seconds faster to me.

It is absolute bovine feces that MASN doesn't offer a pay service to stream Nats games. I don't give a rat's posterior about carriage fees... just take your projected loss and roll it into what you charge to stream the games.

It's motherf*ing 2017 now. Cable boxes are for the 1990s. Get with the times. It is ridiculous to have to rent a box from a cable company just to watch a baseball game. Let us stream them like we stream every other f*ing thing in the entire world that we want to consume! What is the problem? We will pay to do it! Local blackouts on mlb.tv???? Are you kidding me? Just charge more for the local games. Same bottom line. These corporations are mentally retarded.

Good day.

Anyone hear any news on when Sling TV will add CSN midatlantic?

Now all Fox Sportsnets, all CSNs, YES, and NESN are on some or all of DirectvNow, PS Vue, and Sling.  So I think nearly every MLB (and NHL/NBA) team but the Orioles and Nats have an option to stream their local team legally without a cable or satellite package.  MASN has no excuse to be so behind the times now.  Are they ever going to get on board with one of these services?
