Not to be too nosey but what's the difference in price for all service (TV, phone, internet) and just internet.   Is it half/third, etc. as much?

About a third. I am saving about $1,000 - $1,200 a year, depending on how high the taxes and fees on my internet-only package end up being.

I won't get rich off not having cable, but I can definitely find a creative, fun way to use that extra money.

EDIT: I hear I could be saving even more money if I had threatened to disconnect Comcast entirely, but because FiOS isn't allowed in the City of Alexandria where I live, I could not credibly threaten to do that.

Last night I watched Bob and FP for the last time this year. Next year, I will hopefully be watching the Nats on an MLB.tv package - they are getting rid of blackouts for 2017 right?

If not, well, the Nationals do have one of the best radio teams in the country.

From what I've read, you will only be able to watch in-market MLB games on MLB.TV if you have a cable television subscription.  Of course there are the VPN work-arounds.

We went from ~$200 a month including box rentals to a little under $100. My wife insists on keeping local phone, so we have the $8 a month local only cable package because it's cheaper to keep the bundle (sans box, we can't actually use it, and we has to fight like hell to get them to accept we didn't want a box). That gets us 75 mbs and phone, dropping to Internet only would take us to $75-80 a month.

I cancelled Directv have been using PS Vue since the regular season ended.  It seems pretty good for all my needs, and $35/month without fees vs $100 for Directv.

My only problem is how to get MASN.  PS Vue does have CSN MA, so I guess there's hope they'll sign up MASN before next baseball season.  Are there any rumours about MASN offering any kind of streaming service or being included in anything?

Curious about PS Vue. Do you need a device?  Was looking into Sling Tv also which has the Local CSn. Have not heard anything about MLB streaming for MASN.  As far as I know you are subject to the blackout unless you get a VPN to fool it. I think some other posters here know about that.

You need a device for PS Vue.  It works on Amazon firetv, chromecast, roku and playstations.  The experience is pretty close to a cable tv box, and offers dvr recording to the cloud.

Masn was the hard part about cutting- you're basically limited to Charlie and Dave unless it's a national game

We're paying just about 100/mo for Internet and TV, what kind of "deal" did you get? :|

Thanks. Sounds similar to sling.  The other issue I have is that one tv is older so probably wouldn't work with that.

Fios 2-year agreement with 2 boxes.  Granted there was a bait-and-switch by the sales guy who set up the appointment, so we ended up getting a $10 pass on the 2nd box after I threatened to call off the installation, but still.  I'd have expected you to be well under 100/mo for a super stripped-down package.  Cox/Comcast?

I have been with Comcast for a while. Had a deal for about $115 including the DVR box and three other converters. However that deal ended and can't find anything good. So now paying almost $170.

It always comes down to watching sports, the Nats and to a lesser degree, the Caps. I can get football OTA.

I'd be willing to pay $250 for the Nats only if MLB had something like that.

Fios

Genuinely curious - is it feasible to ditch for 30 days then sign a new 2-year deal?  Or do they offer any other re-up deals?  This is our first time with Fios so I haven't been subjected to the pleasures of post-honeymoon pricing yet.

Caps (CSN) are on PS Vue and I think Sling.  So we're getting close!  I just heard NESN signed on to Vue too, so hopefully MASN is around the corner.

I'm hoping MLBNetwork and BTN are coming soon, too.

I'm weary of switching because in six years, I've only lost service once when the power was still on (and even then only a couple of hours), so I don't want my bluff called.

BTN is a really expensive channel - I can't see sling picking them up. ESPN basically has its own package, but I doubt they do that for many channels

I go month-to-month on internet, with the idea of dropping them if they piss me off. If you own your own equipment, most can get you turned on same day, so yeah, I can leave anytime.

when my fios contract expired a month or so ago i called them and asked for their current new customer deal, i mentioned i had an offer for a great deal from Comcast.  By the time I got off the phone, in exchange for another two-year commitment they upgraded my DVRs and WiFi router, upped my Internet from 35/35 to 75/75, reduced my bill by $15 a month and gave me a $150 visa card.  I did move down a tier on TV channels and lost MLB network, BBC, Showtime/TMC, and a few others I never watch.

Comcast used to do that also. You could say you were going to switch and they would make a deal. Called recently and they wouldn't do it.

I highly doubt MLB Network will be available. They are owned by the cable companies and can't imagine that the cable companies will let the cord cutting businesses in. It took forever for Dish Network to get MLB Network as they weren't one of the founding cable partners that started MLBAM so I wouldn't hold my breath on that station.

mlb.tv will allow you to watch nats games, but if you're in the local area you'll need a vpn or another workaround. I still prefer mlb extra innings broadcasts over mlb.tv as the picture quality is better and delay is not as bad. I think the proposed plan in the blackout restriction free plan which is $10 or $20 bucks more requires a cable/sat login.

I would prefer not to "pirate" the broadcast. It's too bad they don't see the value in offering local games for a fee.
