You're surprised MASN is half assed?

I'm surprised when MASN manages to broadcast a Nats game without a single audio or visual malfunction.

If only there were a way to get HGTV over the air I could probably cut the cord.

MASN :?

No: I'm surprised other markets offer in-market games.

Why? You need a cable or satellite subcription to prove you are paying for them. Just another way to watch if you are in a room without a tv or want t watch something on the laptop or tablet while watching something else on the Tv. Comes in handy also when traveling or out of town.

Here's the quote from the note to which I was responding:

So I think nearly every MLB (and NHL/NBA) team but the Orioles and Nats have an option to stream their local team legally without a cable or satellite package.

Here's the quote from the note to which I was responding:

Sling,DirectvNow, and PS Vue all offer packages for 25-35/month, no fees, no set top boxes fees to watch via internet on Roku, apple tv, fire tv, web,, mobile whatever.  Sort of not really cutting the cord because you still have a package, but no set top fees, cancel whenever you want and pick your provider make it a lot better experience if you have good internet.  The only problem is that MASN isn't on them even though nearly every other regional sports network is.

Okay, I get it. You have to have the lighter Sling/PSVue etc. package to get it. Or, at least, to get the others.

Although in market streaming doesn't directly help cord cutters, it is still sad to see that only us and the Dodgers do not offer it.

So, it looks like we are going to go into the 2017 season without a legitimate cord cutting option.  I cut my cord at the end of regular season last year and can't imagine going back.   But, I still need to watch the Nats, and I want to watch them in good quality on big TVs.

The only real option I see right now is buying the MLB.tv single team package, and doing Smart DNS for it.  Does anyone have experience with this?   Is it reliable and high quality?  Does it work on all my devices, ie, Roku, Chromecast, Fire TV?  It seems as if it doesn't mess up your location for my other apps right?

New MLB premium features this year:

Quote
Audio Overlay: Overlay the home or away team's radio broadcast over the live video or use the "Park" option to include the ballpark's natural sounds.

It was the Charlie and Dave synch that got me excited.

Ahhhh!  I thought that was always a thing and it was the sounds of the park that was new. Mea culpa.

That's strange given it says "new this year" and I've never seen it on any platform and we've had numerous conversations on this board about how hard it is to synch Charlie and Dave with your T.V.

I've not been able to do it previous years on the lap top or Apple TV. If you click audio you just got audio.

I've been able to do it on my laptop for at least the past two years. I run it through a Roku, and that had that option last year for sure. Maybe longer. Perhaps it's available across all platforms, which makes it new, but it's a feature they've had in places for a few years now, unless I'm misunderstanding what it is.

Ok. I may just be technically challenged. Or perhaps Apple TV does not support that feature.

not sure if this is the right forum or not, but with AT&T and Verizon now offering unlimited plans, I figured I'd see if it made sense to switch.  We have four iPhones, i'm paying $90 a month for family sharing plan with 16 GB of data, plus I get an additional 8 GB in 'bonus' data for free.  Typically we use 22-23 GB per month, anything that we don't use rolls over (the bonus data doesn't roll over, so we'd have to be under 16 GB in use to have any roll-over.)

Verizon is quoting me $110 per month for the unlimited plan. However, the unlimited plan isn't really unlimited. Once you go over 22 GB in a month, they reserve the right to throttle your connection (likely down to 2G or 3G speeds).  This is the same approach that Sprint and T-Mobile take with their "unlimited" plans, which is why we picked Verizon.  At this point I don't see it being worth the extra $20 a month to change to unlimited.

As an aside, I gotta get to this point some time.    I've been gettin' scam calls every week for months.    I was thinking the plan that has DirecTV with it.

The Charlie and Dave overlay is not always available. I'd say about 60% or so.
