Isn't that a balk? Doesn't Walden hop off the pitching rubber before he releases the pitch?

There's no one on base.

Something needs to happen.  A major trade.  Something major.  Fire the entire coaching staff.  This is beyond unacceptable.  Do you guys realize that if we had just gone .500 against the Braves we'd be like 5 or so games ahead of them right now?  We just lose too much ground to them every series we play against them.  How many more games do we play agains them and the Cards this year?  Is it even mathematically possible for us to make the playoffs this year?

A once in a lifetime game-tying homerun vs Kimbrel and they still don't win the mother freaking game.

With Rizzo firmly seated and the players he's signed, this franchise is doomed.

Not nearly as bad as any number of Desmond errors this year.

Linty still holding up the banner.

Can still balk and it's called a ball.   Si or no?

Since Opening Day 2013, the #Nats are 7-20 against the Braves. That's a .259 winning percentage.

He's built a team that in their prime are incapable of beating the Atlanta Braves.

I'd love to salvage the last two of this series and keep a 1.5 game lead, but that's not likely. No more games against the Cards, but still a bunch more against the Barves. And yes, we are not mathematically eliminated from the playoffs :)

At this point, fire the hitting coach. Can't hurt.

Just blow the entire team up (via trades, NSA).  The entire lineup is made up of mentally weak hitters who shatter at the slightest hint of real adversity.  Everyone should be available outside of Strasburg and Harper (if only b/c of his potential).

There's no one on base.

But with a runner, wouldn't it be a balk? And...isn't it at least a no-pitch with nobody on?

No. A balk is meant to prevent pitchers from fooling baserunners. It has no use with no one on base.

We all knew they would freakin' sweep us again, though right?  It's the way we lose.  We find new ways to lose to these pricks every game.

Carpenter said the hop motion is when he is already off the rubber so it's not a balk.

Harper and Strasburg are the 2 biggest head cases on this team.

Cool, didn't know that.   I always thought the batter gets a ball call on a "balk" with no one on.
