Deserving
Yep. He was pretty dominant at Potomac: 2.85 ERA / 1.13 WHIP at Potomac in 17 starts. 95ks in 91.2 innings with just 19 BBs. I assume he starts next year at AA, then maybe gets a call-up before 2017 is over.
All the more impressive considering his beginning to the season. I'd be happy to admit eventually I pressed the "doubt" button too early, if indeed his progression continues from here.
Yup. He was godawful to start the year, but since May 23rd: 11 G, 57.2 IP, 4 ER, 2 HR allowed, 10 BB, 60K
Crazy good numbers. He's also up to 91 innings, which is a good sign for his progression assuming he makes another couple of starts at Harrisburg.Gotta think he moves up from #61 into BA's postseason top 50. Might be a perfect sell-high trade chip in the off-season for Rizzo.
I'm expecting a couple starts. We've discussed it a little before, but it'll be interesting to see what Rizzo does with him, innings-wise. This is the first college pitcher drafted that's undergone TJS after signing (IIRC -- I'm sure I'm missing someone). Usually, they are going with 100-120 IP in the first year back, 120-140 the next, 140-160 the following, then taking the training wheels off. Fedde's highest IP in college was 96.1 IP though. Last year, he returned from TJS later in the year, and I'd suspect he would have thrown 120 IP or so if he came back earlier. I'm thinking he'll pitch 5 more starts and get shutdown around 120 IP this season (which would line up with the end of HAR's schedule (Sept. 5, last game).
Pretty freaking good debut in AA: 7 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K
Full line:4.1 IP, 9 H, 7 ER, 1 HR, 2 BB, 2 KNot good.
Also one start, only his second in AA.
We're facing a glut of starting pitching next year with our top 5 all returning, plus Lopez, Giolito, Cole, and Fedde knocking on the door. If Ramos walks i'd bet we deal some pitching for a catcher.
i'll be surprised if the Nats don't end up with either Blake Swihart or Christian Vasquez. The fit between Boston and the Nats is terrific.
Let's not count out a 'pen conversion for Ross. Giolito and Cole haven't exactly kicked down the door yet.
This. Plus I think Fedde will still need some seasoning. And, frankly, the current rotation has injury concerns and depth amongst starters is needed.
Yes. Right now, the Nats rotation is Max, Roark, Gio, and three-guesses-for-two-spots. Thin. Not certain that Giolito and Lopez will be MLB-ready next April.
To be fair, imref was talking about a surplus next year, not right now.
