Didn't realize there's a couple right around here (E. Loudoun) not in Manassas.    I was even thinking about headin' to Western PA.    Donated a few wreaths locally and hope to head over on the 17th.

Did the "Wreaths Across America" at a local cemetery today.    Nice way to spend some time.

Auto show starts at 10.    ANC opens at 8.    Figure since METRO's all over the place (construction) anyway, might as well stop by ANC to visit a few folks.     Got on the subway at W. Falls Church and made it to Rosslyn to tranfer to an ANC train.    It was packed before 8 AM.   I was thoroughly  confused.    I planned on hittin' the cemetery on a nice cold winter morning and have it all to myself.    Got off the train at the cemetery and discovered today is the day to remove the wreaths that were laid in December.     There were thousands of folks.    Throw in the run over crowd from yesterday's March for Life and I swear, there were 20,000 people roamin' around the cemetery.     I was not alone.     :)

Stopped by the Tomb, Audie Murphy, The Challenger Monument, Joe Louis and a few old friends.     Other than the Tomb, most of the folks were busy doin' other things.

Guy I went to the Federal Building in Pittsburgh with to be inducted into the Army died on February 19 of complications of exposure to Agent Orange (among other things).

Thanks.    It does suck.    There were three of us from our hometown to be inducted (draftees) on the same day.     The other two went to Dix and I got held over a week to pee in a cup 3 times a day for 3 days.     I guess the pre-induction physical exposed my ruse.     So, I went to Dix the following week.    :)

I'd see those guys when I went to visit my sister over the last many years and every time I saw them, they game me crap.    Then we'd stop and have a beer.

Not sure I mentioned this but one of the pow factors in this was February 19 (the day he died) was also the anniversary of his induction.   As you know, through the years you remain keenly aware of every significant date during your service.    So, I was aware of the significance of the 19th before I even saw the obituary.

Yeah, I'm afraid you're right but in the scheme of things, I'd rather lose 'em now than then.

That is horrible :( and also kind of bizarre, he was at an apt. complex, how did no one see or hear a man in a wheelchair calling out for help while bleeding out from his feet?  He was paralyzed from the chest down, did he not live with anyone?

My first thought was it sounded fishy as if there's more to this.      I guess the paramedics called and he declined help while in his apartment.

Yep on the declining help the night before.      VaRK may get more out of his local media.     Goochland ain't too far from Henrico's fashionable West End.

Richmond newspaper carrier found him outside around 4:30 AM.
