I know it's moon day and everybody, including myself, is all atwitter.      For some reason, this came to mind:

A real feel good story...

While I'm here, we were at the game with two friends tonight

They told us they were flying to Denver and driving to Rapid City...next week...and mentioned things were kinda booked getting to and in the Black Hills.  I told her that the Sturgis rally was kicking off.  They will be there for most of it.

They should have a memorable trip...

not sure where else to post this and didn't want to create a new thread, but The Red Arrows, the Royal Air Force equivalent of the Thunderbirds, are currently at Udvar-Hazy.  They were supposed to do a fly-over at 9:30 AM this morning but had to cancel it due to low cloud cover.  Instead they are now planning for a 3 PM fly-over as they depart. The planes are on display, and crews are available, until 2:30 PM.

Cool, thanks for posting.  Too bad they can't buzz over the Nats game and scare the Blos fans like it was 1814.

I'm pretty sure the United States had air superiority in the War of 1812... after all, our airports were decades old by then and trans-atlantic flight would take a while longer.

Ought to fly that near Niagara Falls to show the Canadians who is boss.  You know, pick on somebody that's safe.

The National Museum of the United States Army at Ft. Belvoir has announced that it will officially, and FINALLY, open it's doors on 4 June 2020.  Free tickets will be required.

Did a google search and it appears the "illumination" is in December.     One of my GGGrandfathers was at Antietam with the 100th PA.     Another GGGrandfather's brothers were there.     The 100th had fought at South Mountain a few days before (IIRC) and were in reserve for this fight.

Wasn't South Mountain an air mobile operation?  Perhaps I'm thinking of Fort McHenry.

don't worry, McClellan wouldn't be able to use them even if he found them. Enjoy Harper's Ferry.
