We have a cleanup hitter batting .150.  It's amazing that Werth is able to do what he is doing with absolutely no protection.

Mejia throwing a "slide-ball" almost every pitch. Same location. Low and outside to RH hitters. Espinosa missing by a mile. Painful.

[Keith Hernandez has adapted "slide-piece"]

Did Matt really  say he wanted to scratch 1 run across in the third when we were down 5-0??? Stupid

It's because protection is a myth

It never ceases to amaze me how people here freak out about being three runs behind. Sheesh.

Post of the year?

Some Motown tune...I dunno...just nice we dumped Ah-Ha before Mikey makes his return appearance...

Hard to enjoy a game, despite the great crowd, when your starter lets the Muts drop 3 on you in the first and can't go past 3 innings.

Has Canada been by to stick up for Gio yet?

Why would I stick up for Gio? He gets plenty of run support as compared to our ace.

I think the whole run support thing can be a two way street. I am sure it is frustrating for a pitcher when they pitch great and cant even get a run or two of backup to squeeze out a tight game. But how frustrating must it be for an offense who is continually being forced to come from behind by a pretty large margin before they even get a chance to bat. This game is at least 50% psychological.. probably more. It appeared to me that the team played with more fire behind Stammen yesterday than they ever did with Gio . There were no monsterous errors for Gio to blame. It was all on him.. but maybe his constant pouty "it is everyone elses fault but mine" attitude has finally worn thin on his teamates. I am only a fan and its worn thin on me.
