Zuckerman:

Put it all together, and you’ve got the worst ballgame of the year for the Nationals. Really, one of the worst ballgames in Nationals history, which is saying something.

Add a 'worst defensive performance of 2014" thread and this game probably wins that one two. Soriano's 4 year old son could have out played the Nats tonite.

watching Nats flailing all night long at 75 MPH curveballs mixed in with 94 MPH fastballs was depressing.

It was as if they'd never seen him pitch or hit against him before.  In other words....  This team still seems to be poorly prepared

if preparation led to success against Wainwright, he wouldn't be an Ace every year.

But he doesn't look like that every time he pitches.  Other teams don't look as helpless as the Nationals did tonight.

Has anyone considered the fact that missing Span, Zimmerman, and Ramos has an effect on the overall performance ?

Just the thought of Rick Eckstein coming to town as driven the bats underground.

I'm dreading tonight - Wacha dominated us last time around and I'll be surprised if we get two or more hits against him.

Can it be any worse than Wainwright?

How many of the Cards 8 runs last night were unearned BTW?  These guys seriously need to grow a pair. The Braves are in their heads and apparently so are the Cards. Last night was a classic case of mental collapse. Not looking forward to the next 3 days thats for sure.

Only two were unearned but you can make a case that at least one more was unearned but the ruling on Jordan's fielder's choice (the correct ruling) made another run earned that should never have scored.

Did they reverse the ruling?  It was initially ruled an error, and I knew instantly that that was a mistake, but I never heard it was reversed. (I guess because I turned off the TV out of disguist.)

I didn't know they had initially ruled it error. But yes if it was ruled an error then it was reversed. I actually thought it would be ruled a fielder's choice but they ended up giving him a single.

It was initially ruled a hit on the scoreboard.

OK then it stayed a hit. That has to be the cheapest hit ever.
