He's probably thrown off mentally because he doesn't have his #37 tonight.

Velocity way down. I wasn't concerned earlier in the season but this is troubling.

He never touches 97-98 like he used to.

And they're in Miami...not encouraging.

The maintenance man that set the thermostat to 78 in Marlins Park deserves a big bonus

It's not the temperature it's the strange #42 on his back that is affecting him tonight.  :stir:

He has never been close to as electric as he was during that first start vs the Pirates in 2010. Maybe it was the TJ surgery? Or just long term wear on his arm? Or aging?

Easy there...

He is still striking out over 14 per nine.

Even if his velocity is down, the reason he was anointed the best pitcher in baseball when he came up was his command and control of three plus pitches. Walks and meatballs weren't part of the deal. Will have the tools to be effective even if the velocity drop continues.

How long does it take to come back from TJ, if ever?

Strasburg's velocity is down again? Charlie and Dave haven't mentioned anything about it. That's often indicative of injury...

Anyway, time to chip away.

Dave's mentioned it a couple times that Strasburg's been sitting at 92.

Edit: What happened?

Just looked at Miami's lineup. Everyone not named Garrett Jones is hitting well for them. Why have they lost eight in a row?

Wonder what the chances are a Marlins batter the next inning snaps back with a "throw the ball over the plate" to Stras.
