Named best defensive catcher in the Nationals system after the 2013 season.  Had a 40.2% caught stealing rate. 

Severino excels at controlling the running game, posting a 40 percent caught-stealing percentage with Class A Hagerstown in 2013. The 20-year-old native of the Dominican Republic is a long way from the Majors but has shown promise blocking and receiving pitches.

Ranked number one among catchers with at least 70 games at one level in assists per game and number nine in CS %.

The Nationals’ Pedro Severino (No. 1 with 1.32 A/G) recorded the second most assists in the minors, one behind Barnhart, but he led all catchers in assists of the non-caught stealing variety with an astounding 71 in 82 games at low Class A Hagerstown.

He is known to have a good work ethic, and the pitchers like throwing to him.

He's currently at high-A Potomac as a 20 year old and is the youngest member of the P-Nats.

Severino has really stepped up his game in the second half of the season after struggling in the first half.

His first half splits: .199 BA/.246 OBP/.335 SLG with a .581 OPS

Second half: .330 BA/.400 OBP/.489 SLG with an .889 OPS
