He's two years, at best, away. Stevenson is probably on a fast track with his college exp., and he's tearing the cover off. Let's see what happens after the draft. Goodwin is a non-factor. Victor Robles will probably get a call up to Potomac after the draft too

I think at some point this season they're going to bump him and Stevenson a level. I could see Bautista or Stevenson, if they play well, getting a cup of coffee next September. Goodwin should be up sometime this season, probably September.

Robles, if he continues tearing it up, should finish season in Potomac and next year open in Harrisburg. For him to go to Hagerstown this season to Harrisburg or Syracuse next season, much less the majors any time before late 2018, would be super impressive.

Bautista 4 for 4 last night in Harrisburg's 7-0 win. He stole his 38th base, which is 4 better than anyone else in the league. I would love to see a footrace between Baustista and Trea Turner to see who is the fastest Nat. Just another center fielder in the wings.

His slashline is .263/.332/.305. Not great. But if you were to change just half of his 38 steals into doubles, his slugging would go up to .361 and his slashline is a lot healthier with still a good amount of his speed and great defense.

Yup. That's why I try to keep my excitement down. Still, I tink between he and Stevenson one turns into a serviceable speed and D centerfielder.

Iirc, Eury couldn't take a walk to save his life. If Bautista can continue to improve and show some patience at the plate, that could be the different in sticking in the bigs and not.

He could not. Or play defense. Or be a great route runner. Speed kept him in the bigs

I'm in the Rafael Bautista fan club but I think he profiles as a pinch runner and defensive sub. Maybe you could live with him as a starter in center for a while if you had big bats in both corners. I like him as a prospect because there is value in that production.

But right now Michael Taylor can give you that. Bautista's day will be if Taylor runs out of options or is traded.

Can he? MAT has 806 major league plate appearances with an OBP under .280. This year he's started out 1 for 15 with 5 Ks. I'm not sure why he remains above anyone on the depth chart at this point. Seems like the same thing we did with Tyler Moore, which is keep someone on the roster for no apparent reason year after year because once upon a time they had 100 good at bats.

I think you're in violent agreement here - what he seems to be saying is that MAT can run and play D but can't hit at all. You can live with a guy who can run and play D perpetually if you don't ever need him to hit. Whether that's actually worth a roster spot is another discussion. I think the only reason he's still around is that he's the only guy on this team who actually plays CF pretty well. That said, if that's why he's there, he should be getting more run as a defensive sub.

I have a longer leash when the team is not in win now mode. But I get pretty salty watching guys cost our team wins two or three seasons in a row. I wanna watch ALL DIFFERENT guys cost our team wins

Hitting .179 with .593 OPS. Two homers. I was surprised to see his name at Rochester. But the Red Wings' order was Bautista (LF), Adrian Sanchez (SS...remember him?), Kieboom (3B), Palka (RF...the team's star hitter), and Yadiel Hernandez.
