Can we DFA Espinosa after his first strike out?
he has to get inot the line up first.
I'm mystified by the 4-5-6 arrangement vs. a righty.
The line up took off when RZ moved to #2 last year. He's a good all around hitter, gets on, has some pop, works the count. I much prefer him there than Desi., and would not put Span and Harper back to back. Werth or Rendon would be the other candidates to bat 2d.
I would rather see Harper 4th than 5th to keep him a couple places away from ALR. Harper and ALR have the most trouble with lefties, so you don't really want to set up a stretch where Harper faces a lefty reliever, Desi gets crud to swing at and either Ks or accepts a walk, and then the lefty stays in to work on LaRoche.
Ramos and Desi are similar hitters in that they both smash the ball and dislike walks. Williams seems to be putting his plodders (RZ, Ramos) fairly close together, leaving sort of a road block in front of Harper so he does not make dumb running decisions.
