#Nats Opening Day lineup: Span 8, Zimmerman 5, Werth 9, Ramos 2, Harper 7, Desmond 6, LaRoche 3, Rendon 4, Strasburg 1.

don't really like this lineup at all, would rather have Harper's speed higher up rather than have Zimmerman in the 2 hole.

Would rather Harper hit 3rd or 4th, but interested to see Ramos bat 4th.

Why is Harper batting 5th against a Righty? He should be in front of him so he'll be able to run also

Can we DFA Espinosa after his first strike out?

Could someone make a swanky gameday post I can put in #1?  I'm not quite as skilled at that as several of you :D

Quote from: DPMOmaha sometime last week
I haven't followed story lines as closely as I would have liked this spring, but caught a bit of the ESPN broadcast and Eduardo Perez mentioned a couple of times that Ramos would be the clean-up guy in this lineup. Is that really a thing or did he just hit there because Zim got the day off?

I guess there was some fire behind that smoke after all.

he has to get inot the line up first.

I'm mystified by the 4-5-6 arrangement vs. a righty.

The line up took off when RZ moved to #2 last year.  He's a good all around hitter, gets on, has some pop, works the count.  I much prefer him there than Desi., and would not put Span and Harper back to back.  Werth or Rendon would be the other candidates to bat 2d.

I would rather see Harper 4th than 5th to keep him a couple places away from ALR.  Harper and ALR have the most trouble with lefties, so you don't really want to set up a stretch where Harper faces a lefty reliever, Desi gets crud to swing at and either Ks or accepts a walk, and then the lefty stays in to work on LaRoche.

Ramos and Desi are similar hitters in that they both smash the ball and dislike walks.  Williams seems to be putting his plodders (RZ, Ramos) fairly close together, leaving sort of a road block in front of Harper so he does not make dumb running decisions.

Swanky?    I don't think I've ever heard that word used in my life  ...   and it's been a long one.      So far  ...  :)      I was thinking Dr. Hook.

When the Nationals finally do win a World Series, it will happen on the day Snyder announces he's selling the Redskins.
