He needed a full year in the minors. A lot of these things would have been learned better in the minors. Hopefully someone in the organization is working with him in correcting some of these kind fundamentals (or maybe advanced fundamentals is the better term?). Both plays were not so much reckless, more like just not being conscious of where he should stop to be able to get back. He and the organization needs to accept that by bringing him up early to the majors there are some things he is going to have to learn up here on the job. I don't think he needs to be publicly called out, or benched, or any of that, but I sure hope, like Ray Knight says, that someone is sitting him down and telling him what he did wrong.

There is such a thing as advanced fundamentals? I don't this could have been fixed in the minors. It is not like he is trying to read an nfl defensive coverage. There are like one or two variables he has to consider. His speed and other players arm strength. If that is too much to process, there isn't much hope. I suppose they could get that guy who wears the helmet near third base to give him advice on where to run. Maybe after he packs on another thirty pounds of muscle next off-season, he'll just do one base at a time

I would love for him to realize his massive potential and shut critics ( like me ) up!

If he was standing on second base and the rf didn't get to ramos' ball, he can probably still score. The ball was going to bounce high/around and the rf would have over ran it. Or you have 2nd and 3rd with no outs. No game sense on that one either

My huge problem with this gaffe (and someone in the GDT hit it on the head, spider maybe?) is that it just didn't make sense to haul ass off the bat like he did. It looked like it was going to the gap but Bruce was close enough that he should have had some pause and floated somewhere in between first and second.

If Bruce doesn't catch it, with Harper's speed, he's still easily to third at least, with another runner second on 2B with no outs. I know we strand some runners terrible with guys on third, but at that point it opens up the sac fly, wild pitch, possible an RBI groundout, etc. You have to give your teammates the chance to get that in.

If he does catch it like he did, he would be close enough that he could get back to first. It's just a dumb decision. Scoring from first on a double with 0 outs just wasn't worth the risk of a double play if he catches it.

The third baseman had to charge in to make the play, so he assumed that third base would be uncovered.

I told my wife that he has half a brain, and that in his case that's more dangerous than no brain at all: he only thought it half way through, didn't think about the shortstop covering third. If he had either a full brain or no brain, he would have stayed at second. Half a brain got him thrown out at third.

Look at the replay, he didn't even look at third to see if it was covered.

The first base-running "mistake" was understandable. The second was not. That's the long & short of it. I don't think Bryce is a "bust" or a "punk" - he's struggling. But his potential is still there - we just need it to start showing up NOW especially with Zim's absence.

Every single AB if he does not get a hit or walk, he changes his bat the very next AB. He is now changing his stance from AB to AB, not even game to game. I saw him try three different stances in the game today in Cincinnati. Old stance (he had recently tweaked his stance, two variations), a cross between old and new, and then new stance. Socks up, socks down, also changes sometimes during the game. Then I see last AB he ditched his batting gloves.

Dude you are thinking way too much. You will never hit this way, it will never work. Just slow down and play the game. I don't get why someone who has had baseball at the center of their universe since childhood would ever think that this amount of changing things from inning to inning is going to help. Just play the game, dumb it down and quit thinking so damn much. Honestly his immaturity really shows in these ways.
