Couldn't find video of his home run anywhere on the net. Heard it was a moonshot.

Close enough? No.

All I learned is that Harper stays back more with lefties and still hit a "moonshot". Didn't see the moonshot.

Well have you gotten closer to finding the video? If not, it was close enough champ.

I don't think they're allowed to use them.

Alcohol,Nicotine and caffeine are the taboos. Birth control is left to the couple not the church.

Presumably the condom is for sex.  He isn't allowed to do that yet, so it would follow that he can't use a condom, wouldn't it.

I just hope he didn't sacrifice too much speed adding all that muscle. Part of what makes him so fun to watch is his blazing speed and turning those singles into doubles and doubles into triples. I also think he could be a legit 30/30, possibly 40/40 threat if he had better coaching regarding when to steal(Davey was never really into coaching baserunning and it showed).

I really don't understand this argument. Mike Trout put on a lot of weight and he didn't seem slower to me.

Same. 220 lbs. at his height and athleticism is actually fairly small. Plus don't players generally lose weight over the course of the season?

I'm not saying he will lose speed, I said I hope he doesn't. Obviously it didn't affect Trout, so I'm hopeful it won't affect Harper either. It probably won't, but just something I'm concerned with.

I want the season to start already so Harper can mash 50 bombs and terrorize the base paths.

I wouldn't say Harper has blazing speed.  He does run all out and the helmet flying off is great drama, but slightly above average might be a better description.

I think Harper will be a 25-30 base stealer if healthy. Combine that with 40 homers and plus defense in the corner and we have a stud.

Last season was a disappointment but this season I fully expect him to be an engine.

I think he's more along the lines of 17-22 stolen bases. If he hits three, I don't see him stealing a lot. Not with Zim, Werth, and Desi behind him.

well by that logic whoever bats 1 or 2 shouldn't steal a lot either

Last season was a disappointment but this season I fully expect him to be an engine.

I could see him stealing 30 bases with about 15 CS. I'd rather have 18-20 with a good success rate.

Scouts put him at maybe 55 speed now (above average), probably 45 future (below average) on the 20-80 scouting scale. A 55 runner who's smart and aggressive is plenty fast enough. Albert Pujols and Cal Ripken were average to above average runners, so it's about being smart too. Last season he was worth 2 runs (.2 wins) on the bases. The best baserunners are only worth about 10-15 runs. So if he gets to like 3-5 runs, I'm pretty happy with that. That's a top 25 baserunner.

I think for this year it's a 35 HR, 15 steal ceiling. Which is phenomenal.

Harper is looking for a WS ring this year.

http://washington.cbslocal.com/2014/03/12/bryce-harper-i-really-want-that-world-series-ring/

Him getting a division title and a taste of the playoffs with the Nats right off the bat was the best situation for us. As long as the money is right, he will have no other reason to leave DC.

The city is starved for a winner. If Harper leads us to a ring, he'll get a statue and will never be as loved in any other city.
