Tracy McGrady is trying to make it on an indy league roster. Yes, the basketball player.

Sitting at 92-93 apparently.

Not bad for a guy that probably hasn't played baseball in 10-12 years.

Nope, 84-86 I read. Did say he learned to throw a true slider in 5 minutes. Has good command to both sides of the plate but hasn't faced any hitters.

Che-Hsuan Lin making the move to pitcher. Used to be a top Red Sox prospect as a hitter.

Well, as a runner defender who could draw enough walks in lower minors to be interesting.  I think he's played in one or two WBCs for Chinese Taipei, or Taiwan, or the Republic of China, or whatever they are known as.

Braves extend Freeman, 8 years and up to $125 million.  I haven't seen the breakdown of the incentives though.

Jeff Baker to the Fish.

Cory Luebke needs a second TJ. Ugh, missed all of 2013 and most of 2012 rehabbing the first one.

We really got lucky with stras, Zimmermann, and Giolito bouncing back as well as they did,  hopefully this isn't the end for luebke

The problem is the elbow feels great after a month or so. Trying to keep Type A personalities on a slow rehab is tough.

What a ridiculous contract for Freeman after a big year aided by fluke hitting with RISP. He'll come back down to earth this year. He's a decent player for sure but that money seems absurd.

Pretty sure you're thinking of Josh Lueke... not Cory Luebke.

Four years, $48 million from Baltimore for Ubaldo. Risky, but if he plays like he did last year, it is a fair contract.

Looks like Ballmer panicked and gave Ubaldo an extra year thinking Boston and Toronto were involved. Hahaha.

Reds To Extend Homer Bailey

By Steve Adams [February 19 at 12:30pm CST]

Homer Bailey and the Reds have agreed to terms on a six-year, $105MM extension with a $25MM mutual option that contains a $5MM buyout, reports MLB.com's Mark Sheldon. Cincinnati will control the 27-year-old hurler through at least the 2019 campaign.

Oregon State pitcher Ben Wetzler has been suspended since the start of college baseball season. The NCAA is investigating whether he retained the services of an agent to negotiate with the Phillies, who drafted him in the fifth round in 2013 but were unable to sign him. Now it seems the Phillies have snitched on him, so that if he won't play for them, he can't play his senior year of college either.

Aaron Fitt of Baseball America is all over this story (the Phillies also reportedly tattled on sixth-round pick Jason Monda, who was cleared by the NCAA last week), and it's despicable on multiple levels.

stay classy philly. Also nice of the NCAA to bar kids (outside of Ohio- maybe) from having someone competent to negotiate on their behalf
