Interesting, in the links on the side it showed an MLB pitching prospect who spends his off-season substitute teaching. That prospect? Alex Meyer. http://video.foxnews.com/v/2990402022001/top-pitching-prospect-spends-offseason-substitute-teaching/?intcmp=obnetwork

Just read that Verdander tore a "Core muscle" last month and had surgery today. I wonder if he and Kate got back together

I'd tear a core muscle, that's for sure. Probably hurt myself too.

Rangers lose Derrick Holland until mid-season due to a knee injury suffered at home.  Ouch.

I saw a "30 for 30" about him last year, it was really sad how badly that one stupid moment affected his life for a long time :(

Wow, just wow.  They aired the image for over 9 seconds.  "Didn't Yogi Bear wear pants?"

Rays trade Alex Torres and a prospect to Padres for Logan Forsythe and a prospect. I imagine Espinosa could have gotten a similar return.

Quote from: Rotoworld.com

Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish reports that the Rays will acquire infielder Logan Forsythe from the Padres in a four-player trade.

Cotillo reported Monday that "a number of teams" had called the Padres about Forsythe, but the Rays had the most appealing offer on the table. It's apparently a two-for-two swap, with left-hander Alex Torres likely to head to San Diego. It appears that each team will also receive a prospect in the deal. Forsythe batted just .214/.281/.332 over 75 games last season while battling plantar fasciitis, but he's versatile and has performed well against left-handers in his career. He looks like a perfect fit for Joe Maddon, though it's a bit surprising to see the Rays give up Torres.

I'd like to see Torres get achance to start.

Exact same serivce time as Espinosa (2 years, 113 days, per cots), so it was not a question of time to aribtration.  Torres would have been awesome here.

You wonder, as much as Rizzo and Beane seem to be able to deal with each other, and Dombrowski and Rizzo do repeat deals (Bally for Perry in addition to fister deal), do you think that there's some antogonism or incompatibility that prevents him and Friedman from dealing with each other?

Torres is a weirdo. A lefty that throws a 4 seemer and a change. He had a great year as a bridge guy but there isn't enough evidence to suggest that his season was anything more than outlier. I doubt that Friedman traded him for Sean Rodriguez's replacement if he believed that his success was sustainable.
