Jerk! I was saving that GIF for use during the season.

That GIF can, and should, be posted as much as possible.

Jason Parks says Robbie Ray has vaulted to the Tigers #2 prospect.

I'm in shock.
This would be like the Nationals trading Jordan Zimmermann for the same return plus one more similar prospect to Ray.

Wow it really only took Krol & Lombo they must be trying to clear payroll for an acquisition.

Edit: Oh Ray was included that's a bit better for them but I wouldn't consider him sure fire.

Rizzo has sold high now on Peacock and Ray.

If he pitches 16 starts and blows out his elbow, this would still be fair trade.

Actually that would still be in our favor.

No, a hypothetical Espinosa at .180 or whatever is still better than a .250 Lombo with no defense, speed or power.

how about a non-hypothetical espinosa who -.6 WAR over 167 plate appearances vs Lombo's -.7 over 307? the only reason Espinosa didn't 'win' was a lack of opportunity

Rizzo cited fisters' playoff experience as a key reason why they acquired him.

I can't say I'd be surprised if they reached out to Cleveland and said hey, what do you think about Lindor, Cody Allen and Masterson for Desmond?

I now apologize for ever doubting that this trade would be a possibility.

I was totally unimpressed with Krol after a couple appearances. Don't understand what the Tigers saw. He has huge trouble with his breaking stuff.

Only downside I can think of is this incrementally increases the odds we see Espinsoa next year

But as a utility infielder. I can live with that. For all his hitting woes, his glove was great. He can play second and short, which leaves us with everything covered on the infield.

Disagree, Espinosa seemed to suck the life out of this team when he played last year, I was hoping he'd be traded before the new season but that seems unlikely now.

If both played a full amount of games, Espinosa will always be the better player. That's a mind fact, but hell, Espinosa's 2012 WAR may be better than the entirety of Lombo's career.

the Tigers are a loser franchise i'd be pissed if i was a fan of theirs, the way they are shedding salary in a window where they could win

I'll miss Lombardozzi. I just hope Rizzo knows what he's doing with the offense because I think that's the main concern.

2013 WAR:
Espinosa -0.6
Lombardozzi -0.7

Ugh at either right now, but at least Espinosa has potential.

Harper and Werth going on the shelf and LaRoche sucking sucked more life out of the team than Espinosa did.

if you cut lombo's season off when Espy went down, lombo would have been the less bad player. .259/.278/.338 > .158/.193/.272.    Fortunately, I doubt we ever see espinosa ever play a full amount of games for the nats again
