THIS BEEF IS SO RAW, IT'S EATING THE SALAD FROM MY PLATE!

He really only acts that way on the drama'd up US shows.

Probably a better shtick than that of another celeb chef that recently came to light...

I've been cooking some damn good things lately. Last week, left pork chops overnight in a saltwater brine with 10 cloves of garlic and a sliced-up shallot, then covered them in breadcrumbs, pan-fried them, and served with a lemon butter caper sauce. It was the first time I've bitten into something I've made and thought "DAMN... I can't believe I made that."

Agreed

To clarify since I was on my way out the door when I posted, $5 for a sweetened croissant cut in to a ring, waiting in line for hours for it, and CRYING when they run out is stupid.

Friend of mine came over Sunday and we decided to make gnocchi for the first time ever. It went well:

- sweet potato gnocchi from scratch, rolled over a fork and cooked to perfection (or close, for our first try!)
- a cream sauce with finely minced onions and garlic, a few sage leaves, and a whole lot of gouda
- crumbles of the last of my home-cured bacon
- for the salad, we put some aluminum foil on a pan and roasted a bunch of raspberries and blackberries until they were newly dried, then (using the same now juice-covered foil) baked a few slices of goat cheese too
- we both got a slice of bacon  :D
- Altamira Reserva Malbec 2009: a powerful partner with the resolve to stand up to all that sweet potato, gouda, and bacon goodness

Donuts are so last century.

At Stop & Shop in CT back in the 90's they would take croissants and dip them in the glaze for donuts, best. things. ever.  I am totally on board with a donut/croissant combo.

Ribeyes.  Also referred to as steaks.

I visited Oma Bap, a korean fast food restaurant, last week in Bellevue WA outside of Seattle and was terribly disappointed to discover afterwards that it's the only location.  I hoped it was a rapidly growing chain.

If you ever find yourself in Bellevue, and you like Korean food and you want it quick and cheap, check this place out.

I'm not sure I'll have all the accouterments that I would have from a full kitchen so I'm looking for shortcuts.

All pasta takes is 1 pot, 1 range, hot water, and 8 minutes.
