That is surprising.
Thankfully Rangers Park doesn't do it. Which, you'd think they would, this being Texas and all, but they don't, which makes me happy.

Quit being a communist crap head. Hold ur damned hat.
For GBA, you don't remove your hat.  You start doing it for that, you are going to have to remove your hat for This Land is Your Land and any stuff Toby Keith throws out.

Try telling that to Mabel from Memphis...she seemed pretty sure that she was looking at al qaeda.  Of course she was also dressed like a July 4 parade float (and about the size of one too).  Husband had on a "We the People" printed polo shirt.

It's a shame that didn't occur to me at the time.  He would have melted like the Staypuft marshmallow man.

Thank god!  I thought I was just getting old and grumpy about the whole GBA as the second national anthem thing...

Probably just sing God Bless Texas

The stars at night
Are big and bright
*clapclapclapclap*
Deep in the heaaaarrrt of Texas
The sage in bloom
Is sweet perfume
*clapclapclapclap*
Deep in the heaaaarrrt of Texas

Being able to clap correctly during "Deep in the Heart of Texas" is arguably the state's #1 citizenship requirement.

Star Spangled Banner is one thing, you're not just showing respect to the flag and country, but to the people that served, fought and died for it. The rest is just fluff. That's my opinion only however.

It's just like when politicians pray, the point isn't to say a good prayer, the point is to make people like you more.

I thought the point was to use the mic time to take a jab at the opposition. I often wonder if atheist members of Congress get their panties in a bunch whenever they have the chaplain pray. Seems . . . unconstitutional. And a waste of time. And money. My money.

From Wikipedia

Irving Berlin wrote the song in 1918 while serving the U.S. Army at Camp Upton in Yaphank, New York, but decided that it did not fit in a revue called Yip Yip Yaphank, so he set it aside. The lyrics at that time included the line "Make her victorious on land and foam, God bless America..."[3] as well as "Stand beside her and guide her to the right with the light from above".[4]
