Oh lets trade span and get rid of zimmerman. The nats season is over. This team sucks. Lerner is cheap. What do some you gotta say now? Some look stupid now. Because their a certain amount of games back. Even if they don't make the playoffs. They still put on a good show, and got it together. Where is smokey at, nothing to say now boy.

:lmao:

Last night the SNY guys were just saying they've never seen this type of power barrage over a series in Queens.

They're still saying it, over and over, I think they've run out of things to say.

Yea I can't watch it today bc I'm at work (and no SNY).  Enjoying Charlie and Dave a lot though.

fwiw, we still have one game to make up against Cincy, so we could be as close at 5GB.

One more hit and it's time to pull Mattheus.

They're off next Thursday so that's the other game. But they have Milwaukee, Houston and the Mets on their schedule.

Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 77th win, each season:

2012 - 21st August (123rd match of season)
2013 - 12th September (146th match)
2005 - 15th September (148th match)
2011 - 24th September (157th match)
---
2007 - finished 73-89
2006 - finished 71-91
2010 - finished 69-93
2008 - finished 59-102
2009 - finished 59-103

---

Nats certainly do love Schiti Field - have now won 18 of their last 22 there, per Slowes.

Did it start when they got rid of Eckstein or was he turning it around beforehand?

Read Boz's article today.
Quote
...Since Rick Schu arrived and the Nats trimmed their workaholic pre-game hitting habits, some self-inflicted hair-shirt drills, the Nats’ offense has led the National League in . . . everything.

...the Nats have only outscored the Dodgers and Cardinals by a tiny margin. But when your rotation begins with Stephen Strasburg, Gio Gonzalez and Jordan Zimmermann and your bullpen ends with Rafael Soriano (41 saves) and Tyler Clippard, you should be better than the 28-19 record the Nats have posted since their bat-rack spontaneously combusted.

Span has directly attributed his improvement to Schu's concentration on the basics of hitting.

Let's hope Cinci draws Brett Oberholtzer when they play the Astros. Dude is on fire.

Citi is not supposed to be a homer park even now. This series was an incredible show of homerun power.
