Hey, so ive jus joined, thought id introduce myself.

I'm 18, from the UK. supported the mets all my life until this off-season.

i hate beltran, zambrano, benson, the wilpons and omar minaya the worst gm ever. I have a serious chip about last off-season.

so my new love is the nationals. love the spirit the team has, and good emphasis on the team and not some superstars.

Hope this place can become a good plce for national discussions!

Peace out

Welcome to the board and to the team for that matter!

Nice to see the Nats have fans across the Atlantic as well.

I have question for you.  Do many people follow American baseball in the UK?  I was wondering because I think MLB should look into having exhibition games in the UK for 2006.

Now is the time for Bud Selig to reach out to the European continent.  Baseball has made deep inroads in Latin America and Eastern Asia.  In a way, Europe is the last undiscovered frontier for American baseball.

I'm sure a couple of soccer fields can be temporarily coverted into base ball parks.  I have noticed many Brits posting on the Yankees and Red Sox boards.  I think a good chunk of Red Sox Nation comes from the UK.

sadly not really. and the main reason is because its very difficult to find on tv. there's one game a week on normal television and a sport channel on cable that you have to pay extra for.

it really just needs to be shown more, we have like football (soccer) and rugby and thats it.

depressing for uk fans anyway.

How different (or similar) are baseball and cricket?

lol. tough question.

i guess there are wickets, which act as a 'strikezone' but once its hit, that batter is out

the main difference, is the batter gets lots of swings at the ball before getting out. also he can score more than one run a shot.

a 'home run' is worth 6 runs.

a good side normally scores 200+ runs. there are 11 batters, two in the game at once

oh and when thrown the ball must bounce, before getting to the batter

same sorta stuff with catching and stuff

hope thats helpful :D

Would you still hate those players if they were on the Nats roster?

I noticed you registered twice, after not quit getting your first nickname the way you wanted I assume. Ask the Chief to delete the other account so you only appear once and the true number of members is reflected in the overall totals.

Thanks for pointing that out, I've taken care of it.
