His wife has a fear of flying and he lives in Monkton MD.

This quote is from the Post-Gazette, the only real sport's page in Pittsburgh, and KDKA. May turn out differently but this is the horse my money's on."Roughly three months have passed since Burnett, the free-agent right-hander who spent the past two seasons here, told KDKA-FM that he planned to return to the Pirates or retire."Read more: http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/pirates/2014/01/20/Burnett-standstill-creates-ripple-effect-for-Pirates/stories/201401200037#ixzz2rjdaEq6L
Baker close to signing as reported by Kilgore. Grew up in Northern VA. Come ooooonnnn.
Yep, about 5 miles north of Cockeysville.
****eysville
Just joking there. I know Cockeysville.
I'm very curious why the Pirates don't want him. He want to be there. Do they know something we don't know? Is he asking for too much money? Or are the Pirates reverting back to their old ways?
The Pirates were a joke for nearly 20 years, then a couple years ago they started on a path towards respectability which culminated in a playoff berth in 2013. So, is that it? They declare victory and go back to another 20 years of futility? Not offering Burnett a qualifying offer seems to be a sign that that's their direction.
And they also haven't gotten a legit first baseman to compete with Gaby Sanchez or a right fielder to compete with Jose Tabata.
gregory polanco is one of the top OF prospects in baseball. if tabata sucks, i suspect they bring polanco up.
also, i think they are planning on being way better at ss.
Do they plan to play Jordy Mercer regularly (I think he played about half the games at short 2013) or is there something else in the works?
