Honestly, there's not a player on any roster that a gm wouldn't "listen" to offers on. Doesn't mean they take it seriously, but you'll still listen.

If they dealt Span and actually signed Ellsbury, would that then free up Goodwin to be traded in another move?  That would be a crazy offseason if the Nats tried to get Ellsbury and another player such as Scherzer, Price or another pitcher.

Ellsbury is going to be a huge overpay unless he ends up with a Michael Bourn size contract.

I'm pretty happy with the club as a whole, other than I'd like to see us dump LaRoach, get a quality LH bench hitter, and add a LH BP arm.

Kemp actually got in a heckling match with a heckler in the porch seats a couple years back.

The worst part about outfield seats are hecklers when they show up. Kemp is the only player I've seen yell back very much.

I'd assume that if we did make a play for Kemp, Span would either be part of that package (because he's cheap enough to be a back up OF for the LAD) or he would be dealt for prospects, either to include in the deal or to replenish the system a bit.

That was probably because they were heckling him that he should start hitting Rihanna if he wanted her to take him seriously.

Is Scherzer and Ellsbury to much to ask the MLB Santa Claus for?  Is another case of Double IPA a better bet?

Until I see it, I'm don't believe they're going to spend a penny more than they did last season (which I suspect was already more than they really wanted to spend, but after 2012 they probably felt they had no choice).  The letter the Lerners sent out basically said as much.

They currently stand at $81,033,929, according to Cot's.  Going by MLB Trade Rumors arbitration estimates, you get an estimate of just over $118 million, so it seems they're going to surpass last year easily.  But in the end that only supports the idea that they won't be looking to add salary.

So the Tigers are now saying they are willing to trade Scherzer for the right deal.  I have to think that Rizzo is stacking his chips up and is talking to Boras about an extension at market value.

My guess is Rendon, Storen and A.J. Cole and Scherzer signs a 7 year extension worth 23 a season with an opt out after 4.

god i would much much much rather have ellsbury than sign scherzer to that monstrosity of a contract while simultaneously cleaning out the farm for him. jesus that would be a horrible trade.

seriously though a 7/161 million extension for his 31-37 seasons? why would we do that? why dont we just sign Zimmermann? what is up with the Scherzer love? he has seriously only had one great season, the tigers are selling high while they can. we shouldnt touch scherzer

Go for Samardzija.  He's younger and controllable for an extra year.  We also would have to give up less because he had a bad year according to the ERA stat.

Natsgm plans our staff:
http://feedly.com/k/1alstVQ

Trade soriano for Brandon McCarthy, Espinosa and prospects for Brett Cecil and sign Jesse Crain.  Lots of injury question marks with that approach but it's cheap.

That is so un-rizzo it's not even funny.

me likey!

Logan was tremendously effective the past few seasons.  He'll have one or two blow up appearances, so he's prone to unstable ERA, but he's a very reliable LOOGY.  Better than a K and inning the past 3 years, with a 3:1 K:BB. In the NL East, you know he'll have his uses.

Gave up runs in 11 out of his 61 appearances.  7 dingers in 39 innings was a fluke this year.

Co-sign! I was on the bandwagon early:

Boone Logan would be a good addition but somebody needs to break it to him that he needs to start putting his first and last name in the right order.
