Looks like all of the pundits were right. He has flamed out as a starter and has made 5 straight appearances in Hagerstown as a reliever.

He may be a useful reliever in a few years but this was a bad second round draft choice.

Or they're just winding him down.

I wouldn't throw in the towel on Johansen just yet. If he is converted to a reliever and sticks as a closer, he can still prove worthy of his draft slot.

But, as squab mentions, it could just be a temporary thing. He has had control issues. Most times its a mental thing. Maybe they thinking getting him short stints with some success will help rebuild his confidence. He could still start a game or two before the season is over or he could return to the rotation next year.

Im good with him being a reliever though. With his power, if he can gain some confidence as a reliever,  he could move quick and help at the big league level pretty soon.

Spent the first half as Potomac's long man. He just went down to the GCL the other day as he continues to struggle with command, 5.5 BB/9 in 29.2 innings. 5.76 ERA.

Terrible pick. Bummer. Maybe he'll turn it around. Purke still has a job...

Johansen pitched a few innings yesterday in place of Fedde.  Appears to throw hard but the ball is all over the place.  Touched for a long double and home run.  The home run was preceded by two pop ups that should have been caught but were ruled hits.  Hit one batter.  In another case he had a 3-2 pitch that landed abut three feet in front of the plate.  Not looking good for this guy.

6.17 ERA so far in 11 games for Harrisburg.  At age 26 he might be reaching the end of the line.
