How about Desmond batting 4th ?

He'd fit better at #5, slide Werth back up and move Harper in the Top 3-4.

OBP is too low.  He's right where he belongs.

Not sure why that's funny.  The two teams are quite comparable.  Great pitching, bad offense and they were only 41-39 after 80 games, one game ahead of us.

Because that's such a SSS thing to say. That's why I laughed at it.

Why do you say that ?

I originally thought Span had a noodle arm but this year shows he has a noodle bat

Does anyone expect us to win this game?  This team's trends after starting a series with a win are easy to spot

so, if in the AL, they call the #9 hitter a second leadoff hitter, with the Nats, do they call the guy who hits first a second #9 hitter?

That was Span's best at-bat in maybe two months.

I didn't hear it.  I'm watching the Mets broadcast because that's what VIPBox gives me but the fact is that the two teams are built eerily similarly and had almost identical first half results.

I cannot tell you how important it is for Gio to have a scoreless inning right now.

Here's a novel idea, how about a shutdown inning after a good offensive inning?

What about the triple he hit against Arizona ?

That was Span's best at-bat in maybe two months.

We have a four run lead and you're still that negative?  Sheesh, some people just can't be happy with anything.

Would love to see a stat on what's the run expectancy for a team facing the Nats after they put up a crooked number the prior half inning.

Maybe I will make it a project to get that stat for you after the game.  Remind me.  I'm sure I'll have to do the math myself since I doubt it's a readily available stat.

It's the best kind of pain.

Unlike me, who sat Utley last night because they were facing a lefty... and he goes out and hits two bombs his first two AB's. That's the worst, no fantasy reward, no real life reward, either.
