I agree. No one should have to go to Virginia to see a baseball game.

Because Maryland really knows how to roll out the red carpet.   ;)

Tidewater is now the Orioles farmclub.  I thought the Braves left Richmond because the stadium grounds were such poor shape that a AAA team would no longer play there.  The state wouldnt pay for improvement.   It met AA standards so the Squirrels moved in
The Braves got tired of waiting for Richmond to get a stadium plan together, so, they built a stadium in Gwinnett, GA, infringed on their own MLB territory, and left the Richmond market behind. After some upgrading, a double-A team moved there from Norwalk (CT).

As for teams shuffling around and building stadiums, have they started conduction on the new place in Potomac?

I would volunteer to be an usher so I could see the games for free.   ;)

Looks like the Suns aren't going anywhere - they're close to finalizing another 2 year lease to stay in Hagerstown at the current ballpark.

Quote
The deal, which already has been signed by Suns majority owner Bruce Quinn, would require the team to pay an annual rent of $35,000 to continue playing at Municipal Stadium.

In turn, the city would agree to invest up to that amount back into the 85-year-old ballpark on East Memorial Boulevard.

The team, a low-level Class A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, is responsible for all utility costs and day-to-day cleaning of facilities, groundskeeping and maintenance of the playing surface, under the terms of the extension.

General maintenance and upkeep of the grandstand, seating areas, clubhouse, field lighting and the outfield wall will be the responsibility of the city, according to the agreement.

In addition, the city would agree to complete a restroom remodeling in the clubhouse and replace padding on the outfield wall before the start of the 2016 season on April 7.

comparing those upgrades to the scale of Stonebridge (granted low A vs. high A, but still A ball) makes it seem like a pipe dream

After trying to bolt for years, the Suns now want a long term lease in Hagerstown.

I enjoy going there to see all the baby Nats.  On a Saturday night or Sunday afternoon, it takes me just as long to go from Rockville to there as it does to go from Rockville to Nats Park.  It's a crummy ballpark, and needs all the improvements it can get.  But the beer sure is cheap.

agreed. It's interesting to look at the locals on a Friday night, too.
