What should Rendon's nickname be?

The Grin: no need for explanation
7 (11.7%)
El Martillo:  Spanish for "The Hammer;" earned by the comparison of his wrists and swing to Aaron's
5 (8.3%)
Tony "Two bags":  in honor of his doubles, not his once and maybe future position. sounds vaguely mobbish.
29 (48.3%)
The Hitman:  also has mob overtones
19 (31.7%)

He was due for some regression. I'd be more than happy with a solid .270 ish batting average with decent pop and continued improved play with the glove(that play today was quite nifty and helped win us the game there at the end).

He's still drawing the walks, though. Excellent eye; seems like he walks every game.

I really like Danny Espinosa, but I don't want to see him unless Rendon is hurt.

Thru July 4th:

The struggling Espinosa had three hits and scored twice in the second game to raise his average to .133.

Davey should be calling him up any day now...

He could maybe be a PH, but he should not be starting over Rendon any time soon.

Espinosa should be hitting above. 250 with a pretty good slugging % in AAA before he is even close to a call up

He should match his previous Triple A line: .295/.349/.463

...and less than 20% K...I keep thinking of the tie game, Nats at home, runner on 3B with one out. Lombo lifts a fly ball to LF. Nats win. In my mind, I replace Lombo with Espi (that's called a "thought experiment") and see Espi swing hard at a third strike low and outside.

He's grinning less lately. I think it was kind of a nervous laughter kind of thing when he came up.

But the boy can play. If he stays healthy this year, Espi will be traded in the offseason.

I think he reads this site and was saddened reading about 'playing the right way and not smiling while playing'.

I almost hope Espinosa is called up soon and gets consistent at bats just to piss off some people.

If he can produce and there's a role for him, bring him up. Maybe he can be the utility guy. I don't care that he's a former starter. But I don't think he's beating out Rendon this year if the Grin stays healthy.

Hopefully Espinosa can take some of Davey's advice adn get his swing back in order so he can replace Lombo as the primary backup middle infielder before he gets cut at the end of the year.
