Just got home.

(from Crew Team picnic ... daughter got varsity letter and scholar award!   Very proud.   :))

I hear Rendon had a good day.

So, explain to me again why Espi was starting the first third of the season ...

Just walked in. So:

(1) Where's that curly-W????

(2) Glad to see that  C. Marrerro got into the game. Odd to have the great Connie Marrero pinch-hit, but he can do almost anything as long as they let him smoke a cigar in the club-house.

(3) Rendon?? Obiwan Kenobi?  Jedi mind-tricks?

Spidey could have if he wasn't out there trying to slip something by the mods.

OK kids, I'm backing away from the key board and going to the park.  Do have proper decorum when you post.

Jewett looks like Fuzzy Thurston or Jerry Kramer.
Tony Rendon

I think Harper called him "Anth" the last time. He can be Anthony, he can be Tony, he can be Antonio, he can be Anth...as long as he keeps hitting respectably.

A word for Danny Espinosa: skip the shortcuts. Get surgery on the shoulder, let the doctors put the wrist in a cast if that's necessary. Rest. Find a hitting instructor, a older guy who follows the classic method: swing at the good pitches, no matter what the count. Ignore the balls in the dirt. Learn the strike-zone. Read about Eddie Yost: try getting 100 walks a season. Let Harper hit the homers. Harper is 30 pounds stronger. Just hit the solid liners and stop trying to be Babe Ruth or Ernie Banks.

Nice win. Let's not ease off for tonight's game. Play the same lineup except for catcher. Tracy better not play.

Not sure I deserve the praise for a shut-out (hats off to J-Zimm and the new, improved Nats bullpen) but hopefully this is the start of something better.

I also love weekend day games - means I can watch! (currently in the UK). Let's go Nats.

I leave that up to the mods that fight over who is quicker at posting it and don't like regular posters to post it before them.

Was at a family BBQ/get together so I missed the game. Good to see the bats come alive, yay for discounted pizza tomorrow. And of course, JZ with another gem. Dude is gonna pitch a no hitter some time this season.

Hope we can sweep the double header. Gotta get some momentum going into the road trip.

Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 30th win, each season:

2005 - 4th June (56th match)
2013 - 9th June (61st match)
2010 - 10th June (61st match)
2006 - 11th June (64th match)

2007 - 17th June (69th match)
2008 - 20th June (75th match)

Not quite - their visit in 2012 drew:

Friday 15th June - 41,406 (16th highest all time, 13th highest regular-season-only)
Saturday 16th June - 41,287 (18th all-time, 15th regular season)
Sunday 17th June - 41,442 (15th all-time, 12th regular season)
