He could be Hairston's understudy
If we're calling him up, he plays in CF, as Span can't freaking hit.

If he were to be called up, where would you play him, right now?

Either CF and Span sits or LF and Zim, Rendon move and Espinosa sits.  I don't want to freaking hear about defense the way the offense has been playing

I don't think you've seen him "play" centerfield.

Who freaking cares? We have Span as a defensive replacement.

That's what I thought.

Put Souza in CF for a week. McLouth can't hit. Span has stopped hitting. Dobbs is no longer necessary. Hairston? Nope.

You know, it's really imperative that the Nationals get as big a lead in the NL East as possible. I think this team needs to see if Souza and/or Taylor can hit when given consistent time at the big league level. Would make next year's shuffle a lot better. Or allow them to trade for a replacement for Espinosa/Desmond

since it looks like there may be no job for Souza anytime soon (Harper Span Werth now, with Zimmerman thrown into the mix too), do they have him repeat, try to trade him, or use him as a bench bat?

the only trade I could see making sense is for a closer prospect.

Who out there has performed better, unequivocally better, than Soriano?  Just curious and have no facts at my side.

He meant a prospect that's closer to the bigs. I think?

How long until he's dealt to Oakland?

http://www.minorleagueball.com/2014/6/24/5815752/prospect-of-the-day-steven-souza-of-washington-nationals

"Washington Nationals outfield prospect Steve Souza is on a tear at Triple-A Syracuse. He went 3-for-4 last night for the Chiefs, following up a 2-for-5 (with a home run) performance on June 22nd, and a 3-for-6 (with five RBI) outing on the 21st. He's been devastating this month, hitting .382/.467/.618 in June."

Why do Bob and FP never mention Souza? No praise on TV...

Oh, and I was joking when I said that Souza wuld not get called up until he hit .400, but that might be accurate.

Conspiracy to prop up Span's value for a potential trade, maybe.

Maybe Souza's numbers are because he's facing crappy pitching afterall Moore has a OPS is .970+ and  Sandy Leon is north of .780

Same pitching to Goodwin: 55 BB; 80 K; .347 OBP; .355 SLG; .218 BA; .682 OPS. (Destin Hood at .361 OBP; .310 BA.; .842 OPS: not Mickey Mantle, but better than Goodwin. Neither steals bases.)

I think aaaa players are an excepted phenomena, but are they really a justification for doubting aaa numbers in general? At some point you have to see how he'll perform against mlb pitching, but until then, his numbers are at least encouraging

Also, Souza has a much better set of tools than those other guys. Moore only has one tool, really.
