Did anyone hear the comments Red McCombs made about Texas hiring Charlie Strong?

texas may not be ready for a black head coach, although deadspin seems to be loving this

I'm not completely sure his comments were made because Strong is black, to me he sounds absolutely delusional and thinks they could and should have gotten someone way better, like Gruden.  Pretty sure he was also convinced Harbaugh would leave a professional team that he was in the freaking Super Bowl with just last year to come coach Texas, I think he's just got a severely inflated opinion of his school's program.  Of course it could also be that Strong is black, that's always a possibility.

he didn't say Strong was a bad hire, he added,
Quote
I think he would make a great position coach, maybe a coordinator.

head coach of Louisville would make a great DB coach?

Like I said he seems delusional, like he looks down on Louisville as some 2nd rate little program that being head coach of would maybe qualify Strong to be a position coach at Texas, but doesn't give him nearly the cache or prestige needed to be the head coach at Texas.

I wonder if this is in response to the literacy reporthttp://m.espn.go.com/extra/ncaa/story?storyId=10306834&src=desktop

If they can't read can you really call them student athletes?

Isn't it about time to lock this thread and start 2014-2015?

Tom, you and I could do it, but now that I broke Nathan's streak of splitting topics and other mod stuff, I'm not sure he has the will to go on.

What a shame.  He was as good as they get when he was on his roll, but once things turned against him, it got bad in a hurry.

Ok, time to move on to 2014-2015.
