Let's see enough consistency to get an ERA under 5.00 before we place him on a pedestal.

Pedestal isn't needed.  But Haren's pitched very well before - so let's all give him our support - just like we give other Nationals our support

Let's see enough consistency to get an ERA under 5.00 before we place him on a pedestal.

I'm sure they're touched by the support they get on a fan message board.

HeHeHeHe

Nobody on the team cares about a fan message board.  I'm addressing all the complainers on WNFF.  We could try to support the players more - instead of gripes whenever the opportunity arises

I'm sure they're touched by the support they get on a fan message board.

Apparently the demise of Danny Haren has been greatly exaggerated.

5.01.  Not quite to the support threshold.  Drat.

Words don't exist that could possibly describe the awesomeness of Haren's pitching tonight

Haren's outing was the most important starting effort of the season so far. Maybe an obvious comment. Maybe not.

Dan Haren, last three starts: 19 IP, 6 ER - that's an ERA of 2.84

I seriously don't get why people worry about "supporting" a player as a fan.  If they do bad, people will nag.  It's sports AND the internet.  If they get better, they won't nag.

Do people honestly believe that there are that many posters here that actively "root" for someone on their team to do badly?

I believe that is the definition of a small sample size

It's exactly the same size sample as the one everybody freaked out over.

I don't consider the start against St Louis worth a freak. 5 innings for a starter is bullcrap.

I remember when 5 IP seemed to be normal and 6 was a good outing.  7?  Holy crap, this is our new ace!

The problem is when they nag illogically. People had no problem blasting Haren for his poor starts despite a small sample size, but now that he's done well in his past few starts those same people are suddenly crying SSS.
