Brian Rauh with a 1 hitter through 4 but he just went out with an injury. I didn't see what happened.

Nieto 4 for 4 tonight. Is he considered a prospect?

Adam Kilgore ‏@AdamKilgoreWP 10m

Remember Micah Owings becoming a hitter? He went 5 for 6 with two homers today in a doubleheader at Syracuse.

he's putting up some nice numbers at Potomac, .283/.352/.434 before tonight.  5th round pick from 2008, only 23.

Nice comeback from the Nats tonight.  After Rauh went out, David Fischer came in and turned a 2-0 lead into a 5-2 deficit.  The Nats battled back with 4 runs in the 8th  highlighted by clutch hits from Adrian Sanchez and Francisco Soriano.  Billy Burns hit a long drive down RF to get the go ahead run across, but the trailing runner got thrown out at home.  Ritchie Mirakowski pitched the 8th and 9th to get the win.  Mirakowski looked good and is having a fine season at Potomac.  1.70 ERA in 37 IP.  42Ks, 10BB.

Kyle Zimmer, the Royals top prospect, pitched a complete game shutout against Potomac today.  He had a no-hitter into the sixth.

Keith Law on the Futures Game roster:

Quote
The U.S. team lost Gerrit Cole, Zack Wheeler (already a two-time FG participant) and Kevin Gausman to promotions and Dylan Bundy and Danny Hultzen to injury; they may also lose the Nationals' lone participant, Taylor Jordan, to promotion this week. If that happens, I'd love to see a new precedent set, where MLB takes the Nats' first overall pick from the 2013 draft, right-hander Jake Johansen, to fill Jordan's spot. Johansen has already signed and made his pro debut, and in a one-inning look should pump a few 98s and 99s. There isn't a clearly better candidate in the system, unless you want to buy into Matt Purke, who hasn't been fully healthy since 2010.

It would seem fair to Nats and fans that if they (or any other team) lose a player in the Futures Game another player from the same organization should take their place.

I have not looked very hard but have they announced who will be taking Taylor's place in Harrisburg?  From within the team of a promotion from Potomac?

Taylor Hill was promoted from Potomac and has already made a start. In fact, he's pitching tonight for Harrisburg.

Really good outing again tonight. Took a tough luck loss.

Can anyone post this for the Nationals? Not that we can expect them to do anything substantial like usual though.

Nats outrighted Cole Kimball today, clearing a spot on the 40 man.

Don't know what this means. A deal coming in?

already being discussed on the trade deadline thread, probably clearing a spot for Garcia to come off the 60 day DL

On the international front, nationalsprospects.com has the Nationals trying to sign Baseball America's #29 international prospect, Anderson Franco. He'll be 16 in August, he's a third baseman, and he would take up at least half of their bonus pool for this year.

Hearing the Nats signed about a half dozen international players as the signing period opens, a couple for decent money. More details later.

Ivan Pineyro goes 7 for Potomac today, allows 3 hits, 1 walk, 3 Ks, no ER.

Just got promoted from Hagerstown, anyone know anything about him?

If you have milb.tv and have nothing else to watch tonight, the Chiefs have opened up a prodigious can of whip ass on Rochester.  It's 10-0 in the 3rd inning.  Corey Brown just hit his 12 homer of the season (Tyler Moore was on first).  Eury Perez hit one this inning too.

Matt Grace doing well in his conversion to a reliever this year. Looks like he could be useful as a LOOGY for the Nats at some point next season.

His AA numbers vs LH hitters: 9 IP 3 H 0 R 1 BB 12 K.

Overall he is 4-1 with a 1.64 ERA and a .182 BAA.

AA RH reliever Aaron Barrett is a stud.

20 saves, 1.80 ERA, 54 K/12 BB in 40 IP. .200 BAA.

Wouldn't mind seeing him get a ST invite next season.

Between Zach Walters, Matt Grace, and Aaron Barrett, it's going to be very hard to make space on the 40-man. Hopefully Michael Taylor and Sammy Solis are far enough away that they can be left unprotected, but I feel like a fourth outfielder like Taylor might be a coveted commodity.

Having Matt Purke clog up a spot on the 40 man roster really stinks.
