Sean McDermott, the Carolina Panthers DC, is a candidate for the job. The Skins are scheduled to interview him.

But these 4 years do not exist in isolation from prior years activities.  Shanahan walked into a bad situation

...and, arguably, made it worse...

Mmmm.... hard to argue that. Washington is no longer the place for overpaid FAs to come and "get paid" while not playing well. :)

It took 4 years, but the cap is fixed.

Washington has a franchise QB, a franchise LT, a quality RB, a true number 1 receiver

On the defense, the cupboard is a little bare. Kerrigan and Orakpo are bright spots. Cofield  was a nice pick up. Riley seems like a good linebacker. Amerson is a nice pickup who I could see blossoming in to a number 1 corner in a couple years.

Orakpo may be gone,  Kerrigan is OK,  but isn't fulfilling his initial promise.  The rest of the defense isn't anything special -  mostly it's crap.

They can franchise Orakpo

Kerrigan has played fine, especially considering he has been playing with a torn meniscus.

There's decent parts on the defense, whether they want to continue with the 3-4 or move to a 4-3

Yep so 'decent' they were second worst in points per game allowed

Weren't that good at scoring points either.     Man, 'skins need work on both sides of the ball and then there's the special team   ...   This is not gonna be a "quick" fix no matter who they bring in.    I guess I'll have to be nicer to my buddy (life long 'skins' fan).

Good parts make a better whole

Need to add more good parts. If they're going to run the 3-4, they have to find a true NT. Cofield is good in a pinch, but you need that huge 340lb guy demanding double teams.

Can we trade Griffin and next year's first rounder to the Rams for the second overall pick and draft Manziel?

The Skins are interviewing Jim "Robocoach" Caldwell. That would be a horrible signing.

Snyder hasn't flown to interview anyone in Redskins One. So far, so good.

Perhaps he's the most qualified applicant so far.

Do you actually apply for those jobs, or is it like the CIA...they recruit you?

Good point  ...  maybe he's the only coach/wannabe who would interview with them.   Everybody else is in Cleveland or Minneapolis.   :stir:

"Hey, here comes Snyder and Allen."

Yep Cleveland is much better -  hire a staff,  tell them it's long term,  trade away starting running back,  saddle them with crap at QB,  then fire them for not winning

Not defending the other moves, but trading Richardson was a good deal.
