Tell me again about the great things Shanahan has done with this roster

The OL needs at least two more bona fide starters.

Who had the better game Orakpo or Kerrigan?   They balled their asses off today. They each had two sacks, a couple key pressures, Orakpo had a great tackle on 3rd and short, Kerrigan forced a fumble and Orakpo batted down a ball that should've been picked off. Had Orakpo hung on to the pick (the next play was a TD) I would've given him the nod (and also a possible candidate for defensive player of the week) but since he didn't and Kerrigan forced a huge fumble I'll call it a push. BTW, the last time the Redskins played in Oakland Orakpo had 4 sacks as a rookie. He may want to sign there as a FA.   And it was about time someone corrected Stockton on his pronunciation of Orakpo's name. He has been butchering his name for years and he finally got it right at the end of the 3rd quarter. Props to whoever whispered in his ear that he was getting it wrong.

Fred Davis must be in a serious doghouse for something we have not heard about. Last week he was inactive for a "ghost injury". This week with rookie TE Jordan Reed inactive due to injury he is active but Paulsen and Paul and get the nod over him. Then when one of those guys got hurt he finally entered the game for a couple of plays and wasn't even targeted. His days in Washington are definitely numbered.

The Redskins had a good day today. They got a victory, the cowboys and giants lost and the eagles took it in the ass in Denver.

I think half of Rak's career sacks are against the Raiders.

RG3 still pretty erratic. He looked damn near like Jason Campbell for most of the game today. Played well late though.

Good job by the D but good lord is Matt Flynn terrible.

Yep.

They have issues in the return game as well. I felt Thompson has been put in bad situations returning because the defense seldom stops anyone inside their own territory so he was forced to field punts inside the 20 a lot. But today that was not the case and after making huge errors in the philly game he seemed hesitant about fielding punts in traffic.

I'm also hoping the return of Jackson and Jenkins provides a nice boost to the defense. Of course that means two players must be released. At this point Merling or Neild could be options to clear a spot for Jenkins (If he's ready to contribute). For the other spot I guess they could look to release Kehl or IR rookie Brandon Jenkins since they don't seem comfortable activating him on game days. But they could get rid of both Merling and Neild since they don't use many linemen anyway and I doubt they get rid of Golston (who I think is a bum). Also, if Reed is back at TE soon would they consider cutting ties with Davis?

When you say he looked like Campbell, you mean he stares down his receivers, right?

Because that's what pissed me off the most about Campbell.

They won, that was better than I thought when I decided to take my girls to the playground. they're still awful, but I'm starting to think 7-9 may take the division (my foundest hope would be a home playoff game with a 6-10 record, if any team ever had a shot at that, its the 2013 NFC east champ

The offensive line hasn't been very good. Griffin does seem to be getting a little more comfortable although if they don't intend to run him, run the Grossman style offense. Lots of stretch plays and play action bootlegs etc...

the pass rush really picked up and I think it could be even better when Jenkins returns. The soft zones were effective for the most part but Romo and Eli will dissect them all day.

Yep. Staring down receivers, unable to go thru progressions, unable to beat the blitz with his arm, just slow all around.

I wouldn't exactly put a lot of stock in that game. The Raiders are bad and Flynn was a statue.

who was putting much stock in the win? There was clear improvement but we all know it has to be tempered with the quality of the opponent.

Probably the same thing the eagles, packers and lions were saying after beating Washington.  :?

Sheehan just revised his season prediction to 6-10. Shanny doesn't have an extension yet and 6-10 (which I think is optimistic) would make his record here 27-37- does he get an extension at that point?

Well, I revised mine to 8-8... Who cares? Let the games play out and see what happens. Jenkins and Jackson are back for week 6. Maybe that is huge, maybe it means nothing but we won't know for a while yet.
