Why would you take a time out?

Apparently it was the Bears, but I thought it was Mike too. I wouldn't be surprised.

Maybe the man assembling the 'talent'  on defense needs to go
Shanahan? Or Allen? I disagree on both. But Haslett has to go. I don't know if the calls are bad or if the defense is too freaking stupid, but get it figured out. I'm not asking for top 5 defense, but even an average group. Good  gosh.

crap our defense is bad. For four years now it's like every play is either bring everyone or drop everyone in coverage. All these crazy formations, blitzes, and we still suck. Simplify it and stop getting shredded by JOSH McCOWN.

The talent isn't there,  the secondary sucks,  Fletcher can't cover,  and the line can't get pressure

Been like that for four years. The defense is wildly inconsistent.

And the secondary hasn't gotten much attention through the draft before this year,  no high picks on ilbs,  and just Jenkins on the line.  Our high picks went to pass rushers who can't get consistent pressure and to the offense with few exceptions

Well, credit to the offense, they turned it around after a dreadful start. This was a must-win, especially with the Broncos looming. I still think we might be in too deep a hole but maybe lightning can strike two years in a row.

Seriously, get rid of Meriwether though. And inject Forbath with whatever it takes to get some more touchbacks, or see if Rocca can force more touchbacks. The fewer returns this special teams sees, the better off we are.

When RG3 is a dual threat, this offense is very productive and downright unstoppable. The only times we got stopped is when we basically stopped ourselves.

I knew our D would poop the bed against a mediocre backup. Happens all the time. Especially against guys who can move around.

I don't normally go there but I'm nearly at the point where I think they need to blow it up and start from scratch. They have major issues on both sides of the line of scrimmage. Golston playing significantly makes me want to puke. Bowen has turned to crap. Really the entire DL needs to be upgraded. They need to cut the fat off this team in the likes of Fletcher, Moss, Bowen (mostly all the DL), Davis and many on the OL. Griffin and the RB's bailed out a bad OL time and time again.

I forget which poster always says that MLB base runners are the dumbest individuals on the planet. Well we've found dumber, i.e., the Redskins punt returners. Morgan is a freaking dumb ass.

Jr outdid himself on the play call right before the punt return for a TD. WTF was that crap?

Just for craps and giggles, we should be way under the cap next year, who can you see us making a run at? Anyone in particular?
what positions do you feel are easiest to upgrade via free agency etc?
Oh, and were there any players you can think of that we were supposed to be n on prior to the cap penalty bullcrap?

The skins don't have the lowest payroll,  have a qb who is insanely cheap compared to teams paying veterans,  same for their olb pass rushers- those are the highest paid positions in the game,  I'm tired of the cap excuse -  how many really good team are signing top free agents anyway?

It's tough to say. Especially this early in the process. Talib was one that was talked about but nothing ever came of it because they didn't have the cap room.

We don't have a first rounder again next season so that hurts the process. That's why I'm not at that point yet but I'm convinced that at the very least some of these unproductive dinosaurs need to go on the extinct list.

I also think barring another turnaround the coaching staff needs to be scrutinized. crap I can see Haslett and Burns being canned either way even though it was Shanahan's idea to go with the 3-4 in spite of not having the right personnel.

Just because they have the money doesn't mean they should go back to the way they used to run things though. Some of that money may end up being absorbed by extensions so they need to be careful in the way they spend. They are in dire need of about 8 starters PLUS depth at many positions. They need a bona fide DE (if they are going to stay in the 3-4). They also need another ILB. However, if they go back to a 4-3 they will need a DT and a MLB. They are still in need of a S and another CB. I really think they need to rebuild the OL (except for Williams who is playing at All Pro level). Either way they need to stay away from guys long in the tooth and instead try to acquire young talent (no one over 28). The Browns' center will be a FA and so will the T the Ravens acquired from the Jaguars but I doubt the Ravens let him go after spending a 4th and 5th to get him from the Jags. Orakpo will be a FA so they really need to consider letting him walk.

Speaking of cap, the Redskins' partner in cap penalty crime is going to be $31M over the cap for next season.  Talk about cap hell!  :hysterical:

Please don't take Alex Mack from Cleveland. Anyways, the Browns are the exact opposite of Dallas in that they'll have $30 million in cap room. Mack is staying I would guess.

The point is that you use free agents to fill gaps. When the griffin deal was done we were looking to be low enough under the cap to sign played to augment issue spots. With the cap penalty, there was no money. Whether you agree or not, it has contributed greatly to the issues at hand.

Special teams are horrible and again, no push up the middle means qbs can step away from pressure. Our corners are bad, especially Hall, unless he's playing vs an elite wr for whatever reason. Hall has played like an all pro the past two weeks. With Griffin rounding into form, the defense will be exposed even more if they can't stop anyone. The improvement in the rushing attack could help, that and sustaining from drives/scoring points. Its a lot easier to pressure a QB when you know he has to pass.
