I feel sorry for the announcers,  hard to elevate opening night when one team is throwing the season

Bud and his cap on draft budgeting scheme have left teams no other option.

All true.  Still, it's surprising that they couldn't do better.  They have some SP depth.  Maybe they should trade some of it for a better fill-in shortstop.

They could do better... but they shipped Dee Gordon off to the minors.

Former first round pick 3B - Zack Cox was DFA'd by the Marlins today. Wouldn't hurt the Nats to kick the tires and add him as depth at AAA this year.

Only 23, might still have some ability left in him.

Don't tell that to HalfSmokes, who thinks Bud is a good commish.

Show me a better one,  besides,  isn't the point if a draft to have better players drafted before lesser players?

Forgive me for thinking that teams that actually care about the draft should be rewarded a little bit and not have to be stuck with some draconian version of a slotting system that gives no room for variation.

I've always assumed drafts should be about spreading talent to teams that need it the most,  not about teams wondering if the can afford a given pick

Yankees DFA Clay Rapada. He has a shoulder injury (brusitis) and he's headed to the 15 Day DL. But he's the definition of a lefty specialist, any interest?

Another team will claim him before he gets to us.

Interested to see the 'Stros new threads tonight. Other than that (and besides it being the first game) this game holds no weight really.

Houston will be terrible. However it's great to have baseball back.

It should be an opportunity to improve with top talent.  When you impose the crazy slotting system MLB has, you place limits on that potential for improvement.

When you have guys demanding $15 million and a major league contract,  you place limits, no other sport has a problem with the concept of the best players being drafted first

I hope Houston isn't as bad as everyone is predicting this season.  I like Bo Porter and I hope they do well.

Nelly muffs a Ronny Cedeno hit in the outfield, causes another run to score. And now Altuve drives in Cedeno. Houston up four nothing.

I can't believe Texas is running him out there. Better to sign Chris Young or almost anybody else. I mean seriously Yunesky Maya is better than that guy.

Sorry I was getting drunk with some Stros fan friends. Just FYI, STROSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Oh and 5 of their 8 RBIs were from Maxwell and Ankiel. Plus Maxwell scored another run
