Flores Speculates that he is out
« Topic Start: October 31, 2012, 09:00:24 PM »
This was translated via Google:

Quote
@PepeBeisbol Talking yesterday with Jose Flores and he admits that he has no future with the #Nats for 2013, with Ramos and Suzuky

In response for my request for the link to the interview:
Quote
@PepeBeisbol @PowerBoater69 nope,,.,,it was done for my radio show here in valencia, before a Magallanes game......that´s what he said.....

Not a huge surprise, but I always rooted for Jesus so I hope he does well elsewhere.

Just added:
Quote
@PepeBeisbol @PowerBoater69 that´s the reason why he intends to play winter ball.....needs a new team badly

Bummer, but not a surprise.

It's still possible he can succeed, but more and more it's looking like the labrum thing will be too much for him to get past in terms of recovering what he once had.

Source or GTFO

I wonder if Bob Lodson was smack talking or if he really had an attitude problem

PB, I think your post needs some editing, it's messed up.

Bummer, but not a surprise.

Yeah, the copy from Twitter brought along plenty of extra formatting that I cleaned up.  Next time I'll remember to copy the text to Notepad first to clear out the HTML junk.

I thought that there was a chance that we'd trade Ramos and keep Flores because we don't need two starting catchers, but with Ramos under performing on defense and then getting hurt I doubt if he has much trade value.

He'll end up as Jason Castro's backup in Houston with Bo.

Clarified the header since it is not unheard of for a player to misinterpret the GMs intentions.

He is clearly the odd one out, but that being said, i'll miss flo.  He had so much potential and was finally starting to realize it before his labrum injury.  I wish him the best of luck.

He probably wants to "be out", since the alternative is being stashed in AAA until we get an injury to a catcher, which seems inevitable after this past season.

Yeah, not surprising but I like him :( if he leaves I know he'll be successful elsewhere and I wish him the best.

Take him to arbitration, give him $1.0M or $1.3M and stash him in AAA as insurance if Ramos isn't healthy or gets reinsure.

Expected... Thanks a lot you dumb Phillies.

But yea I'd take Suzu and Ramos over him easily.

I'd rather let Leon or Solano take that role.  That $1 mil could be better used elsewhere.

Flores is right - he'd be better off looking for a fresh start with a new team.

Agreed. While I would hope we are at the point where 1 or 1.3 would not be the deciding factor in a big move, an extra 1 or 1.3 to use in negotiation with a professional bench piece (instead of scrap) or a bullpen arm could make a big difference.

We are not on a budget , guys. Rizzo doesn't have Carte Blance either but he can spend. Look at our ROI with EJax and Lannan.

Didn't he provide the twitter source?

PA only responds to liberal media as a legit source.

But good luck to Flores elsewhere.  We have two better catchers.

I think Flo thinks of himself as a starter and would not be happy otherwise.

He can think of himself as the Latino reincarnation of Johnny Bench but he's either going to be riding the bench for a terrible MLB team or stashed in AAA for a competitor.

Sure, all things being equal, it would be great if they signed him for $1 mil and then traded him or stashed him somewhere in the minors.  I don't think he'd fetch much in a trade but you never know...

But all things aren't really equal and there is a budget and I would hope Rizzo would go right up to the upper limit so that $1 mil might make a difference.  There is a difference in the quality of a $2 mil utility guy and a $1 mil utility guy, for example.

No budget? The organization that nixed the purchase of sunflower seeds and extra bats now has no budget?

I want players who accept their role on the team. No malcontents.
